AimTo understand the impact of nurse-related information, through social media usage on undergraduate nursing students’ professional identity.BackgroundPrevious research has addressed professional knowledge and practice that affect the development of undergraduate nursing students’ professional identities. As an increasingly crucial factor in the internet age, social media needs to be explored in-depth for its influence on the professional identity in nursing.DesignSequential explanatory mixed method was used in this study.MethodsIn this quantitative study, participants (N = 698) completed an e-questionnaire survey between June and July of 2020. The relationship between main variables was analyzed by linear regression using SPSS 20.0. Then, face-to-face semi-structured and audio-recorded interviews were carried out among participants (N = 16) between January and March of 2021.ResultsThe quantitative findings indicated that the mean score of professional identity was 93.07 ± 11.96 in participants. The results of the linear regression showed that the year in school, whether nursing was the first choice, online time per day, frequency of reading official accounts related nursing on WeChat and appraisal of the online nurse-related information and so on explained 49.0 % of the variance in professional identity. Four major themes emerged from the qualitative study: 1) increased concern; 2) few and non-professional information; 3) encouraged by positive information; 4) limited impact of negative information.ConclusionsNurse-related information on social media has the potential to have an impact on undergraduate nursing students’ professional identity. Nursing educators should guide undergraduate nursing students to use social media appropriately and assist them in developing their professional identity with it. 相似文献

IntroductionDiagnostic Radiography plays a major role in the diagnosis and management of patients with Covid-19. This has seen an increase in the demand for imaging services, putting pressure on the workforce. Diagnostic radiographers, as with many other healthcare professions, have been on the frontline, dealing with an unprecedented situation. This research aimed to explore the experience of diagnostic radiographers working clinically during the Covid-19 pandemic.MethodsInfluenced by interpretative phenomenology, this study explored the experiences of diagnostic radiographers using virtual focus group interviews as a method of data collection.ResultsData were analysed independently by four researchers and five themes emerged from the data. Adapting to new ways of working, feelings and emotions, support mechanisms, self-protection and resilience, and professional recognition.ConclusionThe adaptability of radiographers came across strongly in this study. Anxieties attributed to the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE), fear of contracting the virus and spreading it to family members were evident. The resilience of radiographers working throughout this pandemic came across strongly throughout this study. A significant factor for coping has been peer support from colleagues within the workplace. The study highlighted the lack of understanding of the role of the radiographer and how the profession is perceived by other health care professionals.Implications for practiceThis study highlights the importance of interprofessional working and that further work is required in the promotion of the profession. 相似文献

依托“一带一路”倡议,中医药文化传播具有了更好的外部条件,来华学习中医药文化的留学生增多。具有中医药特色的卫生高职院也承担着外国留学生的培养工作。然而,受留学生个人及学校等综合因素影响,高职院留学生存在汉语基础弱、主动融入性差、中医药文化认同难等问题。作者从中医药文化认同角度出发,对卫生高职院中医药专业留学生进行研究,给出了提升卫生高职院留学生中医药文化认同教育的几点建议:高职院校应深入认识留学生中医药文化认同重要性,引导留学生不断强化语言水平,完善课程设置,文化体验中突出专业特色等,从而有效提升留学生学习实效,助益中医药文化传播,加强中外人文交流,助力“一带一路”建设。 相似文献

In this article, we examine the social management of fatness via an analysis of 4 years of participant‐observation in military‐style fitness boot camps and interviews with camp participants, trainers and organisers/owners. We begin by focusing on popular imagery of the ‘boot camp’. The boot camp model takes various forms; yet, whether it involves civilian participants, as on reality television shows, or the imagined military ones of films, the boot camp model emphasises the re‐fashioning of the individual via the disciplining of bodies and selves. Such constructions of boot camps were employed by our respondents to lay claim to identities which highlight their hard work, strength of character, fundamental ‘goodness’ and self‐discipline, as those qualities are demonstrated through the body – even though participants’ actual bodies change little at camp. Such meanings stand in direct contradiction to broader social constructions of fatness and participants’ own negative perceptions of fat people. Moreover, even within the camps themselves, such identity claims are contested, both by camp trainers and by slimmer and ‘fitter’ attendees. These counterclaims are grounded in ideas about the characterological implications of the fat body, beliefs about the purpose of boot camp and notions of the body's capacity for change. 相似文献
