Fruit and Vegetable Intake and Stomach Cancer among Male Adults: A Case-Control Study in Northern Viet Nam 下载免费PDF全文

Objective: This study investigated the association between fruit and vegetable intake and stomach cancer, with considering the impacts of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and tobacco smoking. Methods: A case-control study featuring 80 male incident stomach-cancer cases and 126 male controls was conducted in a general hospital in Viet Nam. A semi-quantitative food frequency and demographic lifestyle questionnaire were used; and venous blood samples were collected to determine H. pylori status by IgG ELISA. The respective associations between fruit and vegetable intake and stomach cancer were examined using unconditional logistic regression analysis with adjustments for possible cofactors. Results: Fruit intake and stomach cancer showed a weak inverse association when this became non-significant after adjusting for H. pylori infection (OR = 0.50, 95%CI: 0.22–1.12, p trend = 0.094). Stratifying by H. pylori status returned a negative trend for fruit intake and stomach cancer among H. pylori-negative participants (OR = 0.21, 95%CI: 0.06–0.69, p trend = 0.010), but no significant interaction for H. pylori-positive participants (OR = 0.76, 95%CI: 0.21–2.68, p trend = 0.670). Vegetable intake and stomach cancer showed no association, regardless of H. pylori status. Compared to ever-smokers with low intake, never-smokers with high vegetable (OR = 0.25, 95% CI: 0.06–0.95) and fruit intake (OR = 0.20, 95%CI: 0.06–0.65) showed the lowest odds of stomach cancer. Conclusions: Fruit, but not vegetable, intake showed a weak inverse association with stomach cancer. H. pylori infection and tobacco-smoking status may influence the protective effects of fruit and vegetable intake on stomach cancer. 相似文献

目的 探讨枸杞果柄水煎剂对四氧嘧啶糖尿病小鼠血糖的影响.方法 制备四氧嘧啶糖尿病小鼠模型,将其分为降糖灵治疗组、低剂量枸杞果柄治疗组、高剂量枸杞果柄治疗组、模型对照组,另设正常对照组(非糖尿病小鼠).前3组小鼠分别以25 mg·kg-1·d-1降糖灵水溶液、5.0 g·kg-1·d-1枸杞果柄水煎剂、7.5 g·kg-1·d-1枸杞果柄水煎剂灌胃,后2组小鼠均灌服等量的生理盐水.14 d后测定小鼠空腹血糖.结果 给药14 d后降糖灵治疗组、低剂量枸杞果柄治疗组小鼠血糖较治疗前有极显著下降(P<0.01),高剂量枸杞果柄治疗组小鼠血糖较治疗前有显著下降(P<0.05);降糖灵治疗组、不同剂量枸杞果柄治疗组血糖降低平均值与模型对照组、正常对照组血糖变化平均值之间均存在极显著差异(P<0.01).结论 一定剂量的枸杞果柄水煎剂对四氧嘧啶糖尿病小鼠血糖有降低作用. 相似文献

Cognitive function is a key aspect of healthy aging. Inflammation associated with normal aging, also called inflammaging is a primary risk factor for cognitive decline. A diet high in fruits and vegetable and lower in calories, particularly a Mediterranean Diet, may lower the risk of age-related cognitive decline due in part to the associated high intake of antioxidants and polyphenols. A phenolic, Palm Fruit Bioactive complex (PFBc) derived from the extraction process of palm oil from oil palm fruit (Elaeis guineensis), is reported to offset inflammation due to its high antioxidant, especially vitamin E, and polyphenol content. The benefit is thought to be achieved via the influence of antioxidants on gene expression. It is the purpose of this comprehensive review to discuss the etiology, including gene expression, of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) specific to dietary intake of antioxidants and polyphenols and to focus on the potential impact of nutritional interventions specifically PFBc has on MCI. Several in vitro, in vivo and animal studies support multiple benefits of PFBc especially for improving cognitive function via anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms. While more human studies are needed, those completed thus far support the benefit of consuming PFBc to enhance cognitive function via its anti-inflammatory antioxidant functions. 相似文献

BackgroundFruit drinks are the most commonly consumed sugar-sweetened beverage among young children. Fruit drinks carry many nutrition-related claims on the front of package (FOP). Nutrition-related claims affect individuals’ perceptions of the healthfulness of products and purchase intentions, often creating a “health halo” effect.ObjectiveThe aims of this study were to describe the prevalence of FOP nutrition-related claims on fruit drinks purchased by households with young children and to examine the association between claims and the nutritional profile of fruit drinks.DesignThe sample included 2059 fruit drinks purchased by households with children 0 to 5 years old participating in Nielsen Homescan in 2017. FOP labels were obtained from 2 databases that contain bar code–level information on all printed material on product labels. A codebook was used to code for presence of FOP nutrition-related claims. The coded claims data were linked by bar code with Nutrition Facts label data. Claim type prevalence was calculated, and the association between claim types and median calories and total grams of sugar per 100 mL was analyzed using Wilcoxon rank-sum tests. The percentages of products containing noncaloric sweeteners (NCSs) with and without each claim type were also calculated and compared.ResultsAlmost all (97%) fruit drinks sampled had at least 1 nutrition-related FOP claim. Implied natural claims such as “natural flavors” were the most common (55% of products), followed by claims about the presence of juice or nectar (49%). Claims about vitamin C (33%), sugar (29%), and calories (23%) were also common. Fruit drinks with vitamin C, juice or nectar, fruit or fruit flavor, and overt natural claims were higher in calories and sugar and less likely to contain NCSs compared with products without these claims. Fruit drinks with calorie, sugar, NCS, implied natural, and other claims were lower in calories and sugar and more likely to contain NCSs compared with products without these claims.ConclusionsClaims are prevalent on fruit drinks purchased by households with young children. This is concerning given prior research demonstrating that claims can mislead consumers. 【目的】研究连翘败毒片的抗内毒素及免疫调节作用。【方法】测定大鼠内毒素模型的肝线粒体脂质过氧化物(LPO)、溶酶体酸性磷酸酶(ACP)和超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性,观察小鼠死亡率;采用血清抗体生成方法测定小鼠溶血素和采用二硝基氟苯(DNFB)诱导的小鼠局部迟发超敏DTH反应,并记录其胸腺指数和脾指数。【结果】连翘败毒片可降低线粒体中的LPO和ACP浓度,升高SOD活性,对内毒素所致小鼠的死亡有明显的保护作用,显著增加小鼠血清HC50含量,并增加小鼠迟发超敏DHC反应、胸腺指数和脾指数。【结论】连翘败毒片具有抗内毒素及提高机体细胞免疫、体液免疫的作用。 相似文献
