We carried out a longitudinal study on the associations between residential greenness and depression risk in urban areas in Finland. Residential greenness indicators were estimated within various buffer sizes around individuals' home locations (selected n = 14424) using time-series of normalized differential vegetation index (NDVI) and CORINE land cover data (CLC). We estimated individuals’ cumulative exposure to residential greenness over a 5-years and 14-years follow-up. We used doctor-diagnosed depression and Beck Depression Inventory for depression assessment. Our multi-logistic model showed an inverse association between residential greenness and depression, implying lowered depression risk for individuals with higher residential greenness. The association was particularly evident when using NDVI-based residential greenness (within a buffer of 100 m radius) and doctor-diagnosis depression data, adjusted with individual-level covariates. The odds ratio was 0.56 (95% CI 0.33 to 0.96) for the 5-years follow-up, and 0.54 (95% CI 0.30 to 0.98) for the 14-years follow-up. The associations between CLC-based total residential green space and depression varied across the different buffer sizes. In general, all the associations depended on the type of depression assessment, quality of greenness indicators, and the spatial scale of analysis. BackgroundThis study aims to evaluate the choroidal vascularity index in patients with idiopathic epiretinal membrane at different stages.MethodsThis prospective study included 125 eyes of 125 patients with idiopathic epiretinal membrane and 62 eyes of 62 healthy control subjects. In this study, epiretinal membrane stages were defined based on the spectral-domain optical coherence tomography staging system. The choroidal vascularity index was measured as the ratio of the luminal area to the stromal area in the central 1500 μm after binarization on enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography images. Data on epiretinal membrane stages, choroidal vascularity index, and best-corrected visual acuity were noted.ResultsOf 125 eyes with epiretinal membrane, 38 (30.4 %) had stage 1, 32 (25.6 %) had stage 2, and 55 (44 %) had stage 3 disease. Visual acuity was better in eyes with stage 1 or 2 epiretinal membrane than those with stage 3 epiretinal membrane (p < 0.001). The mean choroidal vascularity index was 2.29 ± 1.02 in the control, 2.23 ± 0.98 in the stage 1 epiretinal membrane, 2.22 ± 0.91 in the stage 2 epiretinal membrane, and 2.23 ± 1.11 in the stage 3 epiretinal membrane group. There was no significant difference between epiretinal membrane subgroups and the control group regarding the choroidal vascularity index (p = 0.81).ConclusionFrom the results obtained in the present study, the choroidal vascularity index was not effected by either the development or the progression of idiopathic epiretinal membrane. 相似文献
The objective of this study was to compare the implant longevity following two methods of peri-implant soft tissue optimization following free fibula flap (FFF): thinning of skin paddle (SP) and collagen matrix (CM). All patients who underwent rehabilitation with dental implants after mandibular reconstruction with FFF between June 2009 to May 2014 were retrospectively reviewed. Two methods of peri-implant soft tissue optimization were applied: (1) SP group, (2) CM group. Outcome measurements were: modified plaque index (mPI), modified sulcus bleeding index (mSBI), probing depth (PD), marginal bone loss (MBL), implant success rate and complication rates. A total of 24 patients with 69 implants were included in the study, with 8.7% (n = 6) of implants lost in 3 years. No statistically significant difference was found regarding the outcome measurements in both groups. Failed implants presented with statistically significant higher mPI, mSBI, PD and MBL scores during prosthesis delivery and subsequent follow-ups (P<0.03). In the SP group, one patient experienced SP necrosis which later underwent soft tissue optimization using CM. CM is an alternative peri-implant soft tissue, while thinning of SP is feasible if thickness is well controlled. 相似文献
