Heart failure (HF) is a growing problem in the USA and other industrialized nations. HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) each make up approximately half of the overall HF burden. Although a variety of medical and surgical therapies exist for the treatment of patients with HFrEF, morbidity and mortality remain high, and cardiac transplantation, considered the current gold standard for patients with HFrEF and severe symptoms, is reserved for relatively few eligible patients. Patients with HFpEF have more limited therapeutic options, because no medical therapy to date has been shown to improve survival in these patients. With the rising prevalence of HF and its increasing role in health care expenditure, there is a substantial need for new drug and device therapies for HFrEF and, in particular, HFpEF. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is an increasingly recognized clinical syndrome of transient left ventricular dysfunction, commonly with apical ballooning, in the context of physical or emotional stress. Recently, an inverted‐Takotsubo contractile pattern has been described with hypokinesis of the basal and mid‐ventricular segments and sparing of the apex. We report a case of a 30‐year‐old man presenting with transient left ventricular dysfunction in an inverted‐Takotsubo contractile pattern, associated with a newly discovered pheochromocytoma, and present a literature review of the inverted‐Takotsubo contractile pattern cardiomyopathy. The effect of the ethanol extract of the unriped fruits of Aegle marmelos Correa was assessed on experimentally induced diarrhoea and gastric ulceration in rats. The extract (50, 100 and 200?mg/kg, p.o.) exhibited a dose-dependent decrease in the intestinal propulsion from 61.79–39.32% which is equivalent to 38.21–60.68% intestinal propulsion inhibition (control 58.3 ± 3.4 inhibition, P < 0.5 to P < 0.001) and caused a dose-dependent decrease in the total number of faecal matter in castor oil-induced diarrhoea (control 70, reduced to 51 and 42 at 100 and 200?mg/kg extract, p.o.). Further, yohimbine, a α2 adrenoreceptor blocker, attenuated the antidiarrhoeal effect of the extract in a dose of 200?mg/kg to 17.14%, and diphenoxylate by 74.28%. The extract also reduced the ulcer index induced by ethanol (control 18.7 ± 4.4, 34.22–72.73% protection), aspirin (control 22.6 ± 3.4, 36.73–81.42% protection) and cold restraint stress (control 23.8 ± 3.2, 56.72% and 81.51% protection). Further study on tissue lipid peroxidation was significantly increased (P < 0.001) as evidenced by accumulation of malondialdehyde in cold restraint stress ulcers. Administration of A. marmelos (100 and 200?mg/kg), cimetidine 50?mg/kg and reduced glutathione (150?mg/kg) prior to cold restraint stress causes significant decrease in ulcer index and lipid peroxidation (P < 0.01 to P < 0.001). The result showed that A. marmelos had significant antidiarrhoeal and ulcer protective activity by scavenging the reactive oxygen species on the cold restraint stress-induced gastric damage. 相似文献

Aim of the study
50% ethanol extract (ASE) of Amaranthus spinosus (whole plant) has been evaluated for antinociceptive and antiinflammatory activities.Materials and methods
Analgesic and antiinflammatory activities were studied by measuring nociception by formalin, acetic acid, hot plate, tail immersion method while inflammation was induced by carrageenan.Results
ASE had significant dose dependent percentage protection against acetic acid (0.6% of 10 ml) induced pain and the effects were also compared to aspirin, morphine and naloxone while formalin induced pain (0.05 ml of 2.5%) was significantly blocked only at higher dose (400 mg/kg) in first phase. ASE significantly blocked pain emanating from inflammation at all the doses in second phase. The reaction time in hot plate was increased significantly and dose dependently where as pretreatment with naloxone rigorously reduced the analgesic potentials of ASE. Further in tail immersion test the same dose dependent and significant activity was observed. Aspirin had no effect on thermal induced pain i.e. hot plate and tail immersion tests but showed an effect on writhing test.Conclusions
Our investigation show that Amaranthus spinosus possess significant and dose dependant antiinflammatory activity, it has also central and peripheral analgesic activity. 相似文献87.

Aim
50% ethanolic extract (ASE) of Amaranthus spinosus (whole plant) was evaluated for in vitro antioxidant and hepatoprotective activity.Methods
The total phenolics and reducing capacity of ASE was determined using standard curve of gallic acid (0–1.0 mg/ml) and butylated hydroxy anisole. In vitro antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH, superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide scavenging methods. The hepatoprotective activity of ASE was evaluated at 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 μg/ml concentration against CCl4 (1%) induced toxicity in freshly isolated rat hepatocytes and HepG2 cells.Results
ASE was found to contain 336 ± 14.3 mg/g total polyphenolics expressed as gallic acid equivalent while the reducing capacity was 2.26 times of BHA. ASE showed significant antioxidant activity in DPPH assay (IC50 29 μg/ml), scavenges superoxide (IC50 ∼ 66–70 μg/ml), hydrogen peroxide (IC50 ∼120–125 μg/ml), hydroxyl radicals (IC50 ∼140–145 μg/ml) and nitric oxide (IC50 ∼ 135–140 μg/ml). ASE (6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 μg/ml) was able to normalise the levels of biochemical parameters in isolated rat hepatocytes intoxicated with CCl4. A dose dependent increase in percentage viability was observed in CCl4 intoxicated HepG2 cells.Conclusions
ASE possesses significant hepatoprotective activity which might be due to antioxidant defence factors and phenolics might be the main constituents responsible for activity. 相似文献88.
