Body weight and food intake of lean and obese, male and female Osborne-Mendel rats following treadmill exercise were compared. Rats were assigned, separately by sex, to one of three diet groups; Group 1 was fed a low fat (10%) diet throughout the study, Group 2 was fed a high fat (55%) diet for 16 weeks and then switched to the low fat diet 1 week prior to exercise, and Group 3 was fed the high fat diet throughout the study. To control for differences in work output between the leanest and heaviest animals, exercise intensity was adjusted across groups such that all exercised rats had equivalent energy expenditure. After a 3 day training period, the exercise was successively increased over 8 days until a work output of 374.9J was reached. Relative to their respective controls, obese exercised males showed a reduction in body weight but no change in food intake. In contrast, exercised females showed no change in body weight or food intake, regardless of dietary condition.  相似文献

A serological and molecular study of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection was carried out in dialysis units in Central Brazil. Between 1995 and 1999, serum samples from all HBsAg-positive hemodialysis patients (n = 43) were tested for HBeAg/anti-HBe and subtyping by monoclonal ELISA. HBV DNA was detected by PCR and positive samples were genotyped by restriction fragment polymorphism pattern (RFLP) methodology. TheHBsAg prevalence declined in this population during the survey period (12-5.8%). HBeAg and anti-HBe were detected in 23 (53.5%) and 18 (41.9%) sera, respectively. Thirty-six samples could be HBsAg subtyped: 21 were subtype ayw(3), 14 belonged to adw(2) and one was identified as adw(4). HBV DNA was present in 30 serum samples. Of these, 20 (66.7%) were genotype D, 9 (30%) genotype A, and 1 (3.3%) genotype F. In addition, the RFLP pattern could be determined in samples from 18/20 genotype D patients: D3 (10 strains), D7 (7 strains) and D4 (1 strain); from 8/9 genotype A patients: A1 (6 strains) and A3 (2 strains); and from the patient infected with genotype F: F1. Patterns D3 and D7 were associated closely with HBV infection in the two largest hemodialysis units studied. These findings confirm the value of the RFLP method as an effective molecular epidemiological tool for elucidating HBV transmission in hemodialysis units.  相似文献

BackgroundDuring adolescence, health behaviors and weight status are increasingly influenced by friendship and peer networks. This paper examines resemblances in weight-related characteristics and how they differ by sociodemographic factors.MethodsOver 3,000 friendships were reported by 1,603 adolescents, aged 11–16 years, who participated in the school-based I. Family study in 6 European countries. Each “source child” named 1–10 friends for whom standardized weight-related traits were available in the same survey. The mean value of the friends'' traits weighted by time spent together was calculated, and related to the source child''s trait. Country, age and sex of the source child, parental education, and immigrant background were considered for confounding and moderation.ResultsSource children''s z-scores of body fat percent and BMI were positively associated with their friends'' characteristics, in particular if they had highly educated parents. Positive associations were also found regarding the frequency of fast-food consumption, impulsivity, screen time, preference for sugar-sweetened foods, and hours spent in sports clubs, in increasing order of effect size. Additionally, correlations were observed between friends'' cognitive and school functioning and being bullied. No associations were seen for a preference for high-fat foods, weight concerns, and health-related quality of life. Finally, parental education and immigrant background were associated between friends in all countries except Sweden, where no associations were observed.ConclusionAdolescent friends shared a number of weight-related characteristics. For weight measures per se, positive associations with friends'' characteristics were only observed in adolescents with high parental education. Associations regarding energy-balance behaviors and indicators of school-related well-being did not differ by parental education. Parental education and immigrant background correlated positively in friends in most countries showing that social aggregation is already occurring in adolescence. The wide spectrum of friendship associations in weight-related traits and behaviors suggests that health promotion initiatives in adolescents should be directed towards peer groups in both school-related and leisure-time environments.ISRCTN RegistryPan-European IDEFICS/I. Previous light-microscopic studies have shown a unique population of mast cells in lymphatic sinuses of lymph nodes located in the head, neck, axillary fossa and inguinal region of the opossum. In the present work, scanning and transmission electron-microscopic studies in the opossum mandibular and superficial axillary lymph nodes have strengthened the differences between connective-tissue mast cells (CTMC) and the lymphatic-sinus mast cells (LSMC). Further, close appositions of mast cells to other cells were described. At the nodal capsule, CTMC contacted fibroblast and granulocytes. In the lymphatic sinuses a few CTMC contacted LSMC, macrophages and reticular cells. The LSMC contacted macrophages, reticular cells and other LSMC. A few LSMC could be located in the medullary cord in close contact with plasma cells or other lymphoid cells, keeping the same ultrastructural features of those found in the lymphatic sinuses. An important new finding was provided by light-microscopic studies in nine abdominal lymph nodes. Most of them (para-aortic, common iliac, cardial, cecocolic and those of the body and tail of the pancreas) displayed numerous LSMC with the same distribution and histological features described herein. However, the mesenteric, pyloric and head-of-pancreas lymph nodes were virtually devoid of LSMC. Instead, their mast cells occurred mainly at the medullary cords and were very similar to the CTMC. Ultrastructural studies at the mesenteric lymph nodes confirmed the CTMC character of the mast cells located at both medullary cords and sinuses, and disclosed interactions with macrophages and lymphoid cells. Summary The relationships between body mass index (BMI) and age, alcohol consumption, 24-hr urinary electrolyte excretion, and BP were studied in 588 subjects from three German centers participating inIntersalt, a highly standardized, previously reported protocol. Men and women aged 20–59 were sampled in Bernried, FRG; Cottbus, GDR; and Heidelberg, FRG. The subjects from the three centers did not differ in BMI, level of education, physical activity, cigarette- or alcohol-consumption patterns, or urinary Cl excretion. Mean Na excretion was 167, 147, and 172 mmol/24 hr in Bernried, Cottbus, and Heidelberg, while mean K excretion was 72, 55, and 73 mmol/24 hr, respectively. The excretion of these electrolytes was significantly lower in Cottbus than in Bernried or Heidelberg. BMI increased progressively in men with age; in women BMI plateaued until the 5th decade, after which it increased to equal that of men. In individual centers, the excretion of electrolytes was correlated with BML Sodium and chloride excretion were highly correlated. The data from each individual center were fitted to a multiple regression model. Age, BMI, sex, and alcohol consumption entered the model.

目的 了解2株从人分离出的H9N2亚型毒株内部基因特性,并弄清其来源。方法 用RT-PCR扩增目的基因,用P^CEM-T Vector(美国Promega公司),4℃过夜连接,重组质粒转入dH5a细菌,筛选阳性菌落,酶切鉴定,送六合通公司自动测序。然后进行进化树分析。结果 2株测定毒株内部基因均为G9基因系,它们相互间除PA基因有差异外,其余5个基因均相同。结论 2株测定毒株的基因组均为G9基因系,它们是由携带不同基因特性H9N2毒株的禽群分别直接感染人,而不是来自同一禽的H9N2亚型流感病毒。  相似文献

目的比较1型糖尿病及肥胖儿童血清瘦素水平。方法以EL1SA方法测定35例1型糖尿病、32例肥胖及35例健康儿童的血清瘦素水平。35例1型糖尿病患者中 ,7例为新患糖尿病伴酮症酸中毒的患者。通过测定C -肽水平来评估胰岛素的分泌。C -肽、血糖、糖化血红蛋白按常规方法测定。结果糖尿病患者血清瘦素水平低于对照组 (P<0.001)。肥胖儿童血清瘦素及C -肽水平高于糖尿病组及对照组。在糖尿病新患者中 ,经1个月的胰岛素治疗后 ,血清瘦素水平未有任何变化 (P>0.05)。在联合组中 ,瘦素与体重指数 (bodymassindex,BMI)及C -肽呈正相关(P<0.001) ,而与血糖及糖化血红蛋白呈负相关(P<0.05)。结论1型糖尿病患儿血清瘦素水平低可能与代谢控制有关的慢性胰岛素缺乏引起的。瘦素及胰岛素在保持身体体重稳定的过程中可能起着补充作用。  相似文献

Sixteen obese patients, aged 19–31, and 27 normal weight individuals, aged 18–22, tasted and smelled fresh, unseasoned blended foods while blindfolded. Then they rated the foods on 51 semantic differential adjective scales which related to stimulation of the gustatory, olfactory, and trigeminal systems. The stimuli included fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, nuts, dairy products, grains, and a set of four standards: sucrose (sweet), NaCl (salty), lemon (sour), and coffee (bitter) in a thin cornstarch base. Proximity measures among stimuli for each subject were developed from the ratings on the adjective scales. Two multidimensional scaling (MDS) procedures, SINDSCAL (a variation of INDSCAL) and ALSCAL, were applied to the proximity measures yielding two-dimensional food maps which were very similar. Both MDS procedures provided weights for each subject on the two dimensions of the space common for all subjects. The weights indicated that the obese subjects found the first dimension, which was related to the hedonic and flavorous aspects of the stimuli, relatively more important than normal weight individuals. Also, obese subjects were significantly better at identifying the blended foods when compared to normal weight subjects.  相似文献

目的研究妊娠前不同体重指数对围产结局的影响。方法回顾性分析2005~2007年在我院分娩的单胎妇女238例,按妊娠前体重指数(BMI)分为BMI在19.8~23.9的正常BMI组、BMI 24~27的高BMI组和BMI≥27的肥胖组。新生儿体重≥4000g为巨大儿。比较正常BMI组、高BMI组和肥胖组的围产结局。结果全部资料共有238例,其中正常BMI组182例,高BMI组117例,肥胖组56例,巨大儿的发生率分别为10.4%、19.6%、28.6%,妊娠期高血压病、妊娠期糖尿病、羊水过多的风险随妊娠前BMI增加而上升,早产、剖宫产、新生儿病率的发生率亦随妊娠前BMI增加而升高,差异有显著性。结论妊娠前异常的母亲体重指数高度影响巨大儿的发生率;随妊娠前BMI增加不良围产结局的风险增加。  相似文献

Parasagittal knife cuts that separate the medial hypothalamus from the lateral hypothalamus produce obesity. It has been assumed that the obesity results from the cutting of axons. However, these cuts also appear to sever arteries. The present study demonstrates that the severing of arteries is not necessary for the production of obesity. Knife cuts were placed at an angle so as to separate the medial hypothalamus from the lateral hypothalamus with minimal damage to arteries. These rats overate and became obese just as rapidly as rats with parasagittal cuts.  相似文献
