The nucleus of the optic tract (NOT) and the dorsal terminal nucleus of the accessory optic tract (DTN) are essential nuclei for the generation of slow-phase eye movements during horizontal optokinetic nystagmus. We recorded from 101 neurons (all directionally selective) in four NOT/DTN of three trained and behaving rhesus monkeys. Neuronal activity increased when stimuli moved ipsiversively with respect to the recording site and decreased below spontaneous activity when stimuli moved contraversively. While the monkey fixated a small spot, some NOT/DTN neurons did not respond at all to the retinal image slip of a whole-field random dot pattern; others showed a monotonic increase of activity to increasing velocities of that stimulus. The velocity range tested was up to 100°/s. During the execution of optokinetic nystagmus, 39 of 73 cells tested showed a velocity-tuned response with an average optimum at 21°/s retinal image slip. Following saccades during optokinetic nystagmus (quick phases), the NOT/DTN neuronal activity briefly attained the level of spontaneous activity, as predicted from the velocity selectivity during optokinetic nystagmus. Immediately upon cessation of optokinetic stimulation in the preferred direction, NOT/DTN activity returned to the spontaneous level and did not reflect the ongoing optokinetic afternystagmus in darkness. Most NOT/DTN neurons displayed direction selectivity also during smooth pursuit. Twenty-one of 50 cells tested (42%) always responded to the retinal slip of the target (target velocity cells), 16 cells (32%) responded to the retinal slip of the background (background velocity cells), and 13 cells (26%) did not respond at all during smooth pursuit. We conclude from our results that the NOT/DTN is an essential structure for the processing of the direction and speed of retinal image slip. This information is then used for the generation and maintenance of slow eye movements, preferentially during horizontal optokinetic nystagmus but also during pursuit eye movements.  相似文献

Fluid overload predisposes chronic hemodialysis patients to cardiovascular disease, a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. We evaluated the efficacy of monitoring changes in blood volume during routine hemodialysis to detect fluid overload. Intradialytic changes in blood volume were monitored by continuously measuring hematocrit in all 56 patients in a single dialysis unit over 7 weeks. After Week 1, patients were categorized into 2 separate groups depending on their maximum intradialytic decreases in blood volume. In Group 1, 46 of 56 or 82% had greater than a 5% decrease in blood volume while in Group 2, 10 of 56 or 18% had less than a 5% decrease in blood volume. During Weeks 2–7, dialytic fluid removal was intentionally increased in Group 2 patients by 0.80 ± 0.62 L (mean ± SD) or 47 ± 43%. This intervention resulted in a larger (p < 0.02) intradialytic decrease in body weight (2.7 ± 0.9 kg versus 2.0 ± 0.8 kg) and a larger (p < 0.02) intradialytic decrease in blood volume (15 ± 5% versus 4 ± 1%) than experienced during Week 1 with a low incidence of symptoms. We conclude that there is a significant percentage of chronic hemodialysis patients who can tolerate additional fluid removal without hypovolemic symptoms even though they are considered to be at dry weight by routine physical examination and that the identification of these patients can be facilitated by intradialytic blood volume monitoring.  相似文献

眼内异物合并外伤性白内障是眼外伤常见的致盲原因之一,各地报告的致盲率为20%~48.9%。本文对88例眼内异物合并外伤性白内障患者采用联合手术治疗,收到较好疗效,术前视力0.05以下占85.2%,术后矫正视力0.05以下占27.3%,矫正视力0.06~1.5占73.7%,其中矫正视力0.6~1.5者占22.8%。根据异物的性质、在眼内部位和晶体损伤情况选择不同的手术方式一次联合手术摘出异物和白内障,术后采用中西药配合治疗。联合手术可提高疗效,减少术后并发症.减少手术次数,减轻病人的痛苦,缩短病程,减少医疗费用.眼科学报1993;9:216—218.  相似文献

目的探讨微波热凝切割睑球粘连的治疗效果。方法随机抽取1995年1月~1997年12月我科应用微波治疗睑球粘连22例进行回顾性总结。结果22例轻、中、重度睑球粘连患者,经1~4次热凝切割,均痊愈。结论微波技术切割睑球粘连操作简便易行,是一种较为理想的治疗方法。  相似文献

Verification of inheritance in congenital nystagmus (CN) is only possible through the identification of more than one affected member in a family, since in a single case there are no accurate clinical differentiations between spontaneous and inherited CN. We performed electronystagmographic examinations (ENG) to search for abnormal involuntary eye movements as a sign of heredity in seemingly unaffected members of CN families.ENG registrations were performed under three test conditions: (1) with the subject fixating a target, (2) with the room lights off and (3) with closed eyes.Fifty normally sighted individuals (group (a) underwent the test procedure to provide a baseline of normality. Five CN families (three dominant, two sex-linked recessive) were tested as group (b). The eye movement recordings were analysed in terms of nystagmus intensity (amplitude x frequency of the involuntary saccade). In every one of the five families, abnormalities in seemingly non-affected members could be demonstrated: in four families, fastphase instabilities, in the fifth family a true (CN) (slowphase instability).All certain gene carriers were diagnosed correctly by the ENG.These findings indicate a method for detecting slightly affected members in dominant pedigrees and female gene carriers in sex-linked mode of transmission.  相似文献

目的:研究正常儿童优势眼视觉诱发电位特征。方法:对47名正常儿童进行全视野刺激多导视觉诱发电位研究。结果:优势眼视觉诱发电位以0_z电极为代表,P_(100)潜伏期较非优势眼缩短(P<0.01),而N_(75)—P_(100)峰峰值较非优势眼增大(P<0.05)。结论:中枢神经系统存在偏利现象,这种偏利现象可能与控制视神经髓鞘优先形成的某种遗传机制有关,或是中枢神经系统突触的局部构造、突触效能的差异。  相似文献

目的:探讨视网膜母细胞瘤病理标本的不同取材方法对脉络膜浸润检出率的影响,寻求理想的常规取材方法。方法:复查297只原发摘除的视网膜母细胞瘤眼球的病理切片,比较五平面取材法(151只眼)和单平面取材法(146只眼)对脉络膜浸润的检出率。结果:五平面取材法对脉络膜浸润的检出率(31%)明显高于单平面取材法(17%),且主要是对玻璃膜在肿瘤细胞影响下发生变化的检出率高。脉络浸润的各期都主要分布在五平面取材法的各平面上。结论:五平面取材法能提供判断视网膜母细胞瘤患者预后的较大量病理信息,在日常医疗工作中从人力、物力、财力上能够承受,可作为常规取材方法应用于临床。连续切片取材只作为在特殊情况下对五平面取材法的补充。单平面取材法有可能丢失一些重要的病理信息而应由五平面取材法代替。  相似文献

Background: The presence of efferent fibers in the anteromedial eye of liphistiid spiders kept in natural daily cycles of illuminance has been reported. However, this report is limited to innervation by the efferent fiber and daily rhabdomal changes, and there have been no detailed ultrastructural accounts of the eye. Methods: The fine structure of this eye was examined by electron microscopy. Results and conclusions: The eye consists of a cornea, a lens, a vitreous body, and a retina. The retina contains 13 or 14 receptor cells and glial cells. The rhabdoms are distal to the nuclei of the receptor cells. In the distal region of the receptive segment, the rhabdomeres lie in the center of the cell. In the middle region, anisomorphic rhabdoms formed by microvilli from adjacent cells are at the cell periphery. In the proximal region, the rhabdomeres are situated in the center of the cell. The ocellar nerve of the eye runs toward the protocerebrum and enters the posterior part of the first optic ganglion of the secondary eyes. Pigmented cells and nonpigmented cells are observed. The pigmented cells are located in the most lateral of the eye and cover the whole eye. The nonpigmented cells are located in the receptor cell bodies and extend to the origin of the ocellar nerve. They wind to form capillaries filled with electron-dense material. These structures are discussed in comparison with those of other spiders and other chelicerates. © 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

 The macaque frontal eye field (FEF) is involved in the generation of saccadic eye movements and fixations. To better understand the role of the FEF, we reversibly inactivated a portion of it while a monkey made saccades and fixations in response to visual stimuli. Lidocaine was infused into a FEF and neural inactivation was monitored with a nearby microelectrode. We used two saccadic tasks. In the delay task, a target was presented and then extinguished, but the monkey was not allowed to make a saccade to its location until a cue to move was given. In the step task, the monkey was allowed to look at a target as soon as it appeared. During FEF inactivation, monkeys were severely impaired at making saccades to locations of extinguished contralateral targets in the delay task. They were similarly impaired at making saccades to locations of contralateral targets in the step task if the target was flashed for ≤100 ms, such that it was gone before the saccade was initiated. Deficits included increases in saccadic latency, increases in saccadic error, and increases in the frequency of trials in which a saccade was not made. We varied the initial fixation location and found that the impairment specifically affected contraversive saccades rather than affecting all saccades made into head-centered contralateral space. Monkeys were impaired only slightly at making saccades to contralateral targets in the step task if the target duration was 1000 ms, such that the target was present during the saccade: latency increased, but increases in saccadic error were mild and increases in the frequency of trials in which a saccade was not made were insignificant. During FEF inactivation there usually was a direct correlation between the latency and the error of saccades made in response to contralateral targets. In the delay task, FEF inactivation increased the frequency of making premature saccades to ipsilateral targets. FEF inactivation had inconsistent and mild effects on saccadic peak velocity. FEF inactivation caused impairments in the ability to fixate lights steadily in contralateral space. FEF inactivation always caused an ipsiversive deviation of the eyes in darkness. In summary, our results suggest that the FEF plays major roles in (1) generating contraversive saccades to locations of extinguished or flashed targets, (2) maintaining contralateral fixations, and (3) suppressing inappropriate ipsiversive saccades.
