Unidentified gestational infection with Toxoplasma gondii may lead to fetal infection with severe complications later in childhood. Because diagnosis of maternal infection solely depends on serology, routine tests with high sensitivity and specificity are required. In this study, the new Roche Elecsys Toxo IgG and IgM immunoassay was compared with Sabin-Feldman dye test and immunosorbent agglutination assay-IgM as reference test. Serum samples were analyzed from 927 pregnant women, including 100 negative, 706 chronic, and 121 acute infections. The combination of both Elecsys IgG and IgM assays demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity of 97.1% and 100.0%, respectively, and a positive and negative predictive value of 100.0% and 81.3%, respectively. The Elecsys assay is a useful tool as a first-line screening method to detect gestational infections. However, if gestational infection is assumed, confirmatory testing by a reference laboratory might be necessary to discriminate between pre- and postconceptional infection to start antiparasitic treatment to avoid mother-to-fetus transmission and severe sequelae. 相似文献

The diagnosis of American Tegumentary Leishmaniasis is a difficult but essential task
when considering the high toxicity profile of the drugs available. Since the
discovery of its etiologic agent, numerous diagnostic tests have been developed. None
of the tests available today can be considered as the gold standard, since they do
not add enough accuracy for the disease detection. Good epidemiological and clinical
knowledge of the disease are fundamental precepts of the dermatology practice and
precede the rational use of existing diagnostic tests. In this article we aim,
through extensive literature review, to recall fundamental concepts of any diagnostic
test. Subsequently, based on this information, we will weave important comments about
the characteristics of existing diagnostic tests, including immunological tests such
as Montenegro''s skin test, serology and detection of parasites by direct examination,
culture or histopathology. Finally we will discuss the new technologies and options
for the diagnosis of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis. The molecular biology technique is
considered a promising tool, promoting the rapid identification of the species
involved. We also aim to educate dermatologists about a disease with high morbidity

目的:研究蛇葡萄素对黑色素瘤的抑制作用。方法:以血清药理学方法考察不同剂量的蛇葡萄素含药血清对B16黑色素瘤细胞的抑制作用,分别用MTT法及流式细胞术进行评价。结果:0.420mmol/kg、0.560mmol/kg剂量组的C57BL/6小鼠含药血清能有效抑制黑色素瘤B16细胞,与空白血清中加入浓度相当的蛇葡萄素的抑制率相同;两个剂量组的含药血清使肿瘤细胞的分裂增殖指数分别降低了19.1%、21.7%。结论:蛇葡萄素在血药浓度达峰期对小鼠黑色素瘤B16细胞的抑制可能以原型物形式起作用,抑制细胞的DNA合成。 相似文献

The healing of the intestine is becoming an important objective in the management of inflammatory bowel diseases. It is associated with improved disease outcome. Therefore the assessment of this healing both in clinical studies and routine practice is a key issue. Endoscopy for the colon and terminal ileum and computerized tomography or magnetic resonance imaging for the small bowel are the most direct ways to evaluate intestinal healing. However, there are many unsolved questions about the definition and the precise assessment of intestinal healing using these endoscopic and imaging techniques. Furthermore, these are relatively invasive and expensive procedures that may be inadequate for regular patients' monitoring. Therefore, biomarkers such as C-reactive protein and fecal calprotectin have been proposed as surrogate markers for intestinal healing. Nevertheless, the sensitivity and specificity of these markers for the prediction of healing may be insufficient for routine practice. New stool, blood or intestinal biomarkers are currently studied and may improve our ability to monitor intestinal healing in the future. 相似文献
