The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, to investigate the potential benefits of online health communities (OHCs) for informal caregivers by conducting a systematic literature review. Secondly, to identify the relationship between the potential benefits of OHCs and resilience factors of older adults. Performing a thematic analysis, we identified the potential benefits of OHCs for informal caregivers of older adults, including two salient themes: (a) caregivers sharing and receiving social support and (b) self and moral empowerment of caregivers. Then, we uncovered how these potential benefits can support resilience of older adults. Our findings show that sharing and receiving of social support by informal caregivers, and self and moral empowerment of informal caregivers in OHCs, can support four resilience factors among older adults, including self-care, independence, altruism and external connections. This review enables a better understanding of OHCs and Gerontology, and our outcomes also challenge the way healthcare and aged-care service providers view caregivers and older adults. Furthermore, the identified gap and opportunities would provide avenues for further research in OHCs.  相似文献

While virtual learning environments (VLE) can be used in medical education as stand-alone educational interventions, they can also be used in preparation for traditional “face-to-face” training sessions as part of a “flipped classroom” model. We sought to evaluate the introduction of this model in a single module on maxillofacial radiology from a course on trauma skills. Course delegates were randomised into two groups: one was given access to an e-learning resource (test group) and the other attended a traditional didactic lecture (control group). Knowledge and confidence were assessed before and after the course with a 20-question single-best-answer paper and a 10-situation 100 mm visual analogue scale (VAS) paper, respectively. All participants were then given free access to the VLE for 30 days and were invited to take part in an e-survey. Neither group showed improvements in the single-best-answer scores, but both groups showed comparable improvements in VAS (control: median (range) values improved from 40.8 (17.7–82.5) mm to 62.8 (35.3–88.7) mm, p = 0.001; test group: from 47.7 (10.9–58.1) mm to 60.5 (32.4–75.6) mm, p = 0.005). Half of the respondents stated that they preferred the “flipped classroom” approach, and 22/22 stated that they would be “likely” or “very likely” to use an e-learning resource with expanded content. The “flipped classroom” approach was well received and there were comparable improvements in confidence. As maxillofacial radiology lends itself to online instruction with its reliance on the recognition of patterns, and problem-based approach to learning, a piloted e-learning resource could be developed in this area.  相似文献

Given the overall paucity of research on youngsters with disability, and the ways they participate in online culture, this paper wishes to unpack the norms and divisions that become enacted or undone through online technologies and the impact these may have on the everyday practices of children and teenagers with disability in Greece. Based on our interviews with 20 youngsters with physical, and/or cognitive difficulties, or deafness, and premised on a socially constructed notion of disability and childhood, we support the view that social and digital exclusion are inextricably linked and that online technologies are differentially used in order to compensate for the physical, communicative, identity and socializing shortcomings of different kinds of impairment.  相似文献

This paper reviews the field of knowledge utilization and indicates how findings from this area can be applied to gerontology and, more specifically, to long-term care. The knowledge utilization areas discussed include the diffusion of innovations, the linkage model of dissemination, the innovative organization model of change, the use of information by policy-makers and the utilization of evaluations. Recommendations on how these results can be applied to gerontology and ways for gerontologists to become involved in knowledge utilization are discussed.  相似文献

Clinical observations have led several authors to suggest that talking louder improves auditory comprehension for the aphasic patient, while others suggest that it does nothing to help comprehension. To clarify these observations under experimental conditions, four measures of auditory processing (cortical-evoked responses, nonverbal intensity sequencing, phoneme in word discrimination and sequencing, and a semantic-syntactic measure of comprehension) were used in diotic presentation of stimuli to 10 aphasic subjects with left temporal lobe damage. The stimuli were presented at 70, 85, and 100 dB SPL. Results suggest that a simple diotic (true binaural) increase of stimulus intensity is not a potent variable for influencing auditory processing in patients with aphasia. Although a few subjects improved their performances on selected levels when stimulus intensity was increased, the performances of others decreased. Auditory-evoked response (AER) latencies and amplitudes generally were not significantly different between the damaged and intact hemispheres. The time-intensity trading function was demonstrated with the AER, particularly for the N2 component. The ear with the greatest advantage on dichotic listening was contralateral to the lesion and was contralateral to the hemisphere that had the shorter P1 latencies, longer N2 latencies, and smaller AER amplitudes.  相似文献

This article contributes to the study of children and the internet by reporting on findings from an ethnographic study of children's online use, experience and regulation in Melbourne, Australia. As part of a social inclusion study of technology use, we worked with children and their families in the contexts of everyday and home internet use. This article begins by identifying age-related gaps in the literature on children's online risks, and then moves on to a discussion of the research findings relating to children's online mediation, conduct and competence. By developing a concept of digital wellbeing the article argues that rather than focus only on risk protection measures, it is important to equip children with the knowledge and skills to be active, ethical and critical participants online.  相似文献

【目的】 系统介绍面向语义出版的结构化论文写作工具DPaper和论文写作与评审管理平台Arpha Writing Tool(AWT)的特点及其HTML文档的规范化写作标准,为我国科技期刊HTML论文设计规范化写作标准提供借鉴。【方法】 采用文献分析、网站调研和对比分析等方法,了解AWT和DPaper的不同类型论文HTML文档规范化写作标准。【结果】 DPaper目前内设2种在线规范化写作标准,并对平台内部字体等进行规范;AWT内部制定了59种论文类型的规范化写作标准,并根据不同论文类型各有侧重点。【结论】 目前,国内还没有科技期刊论文HTML文档写作的标准化体例,我国应完善论文内部数据描述,完善摘要的结构化展示,根据学科完善数据论文写作规范,根据学科特点及论文类型等制定规范化写作标准,从而使得科技期刊论文的写作更加规范化、简便化和标准化。  相似文献
