Summary
The introduction of fast gradient systems allows a reliable visualization of the extracranial carotid vessels by the magnetic
resonance angiography (MRA) which meanwhile is implemented into clinical routine. By the mainly applied time-of-flight (TOF)
technique, vessels can be imaged without contrast agent (CA). Due to the application of ultra-fast gradient-echo-sequences,
the first-pass evaluation of an intravenous bolus-injection of Gadolinium in the carotids from the aortic arch up to the skull
base can be performed in less than 30 s. In this study, advantages and disadvantages of both techniques are discussed. For
a qualitatively optimal contrast enhanced MRA (CE-MRA) timing parameters like injection delay, flow rate and the adjustment
of sequence parameters have to be considered in relation to the fast venous return from the sinus to the jugular veins. First,
the optimal time point of the data acquisition have been determined at a model and with a computer simulation in reference
to the presence of CA in the arteries. As a result, 90 % of the contrast contribution is defined by 16 % of the symmetrically
acquired central k-space lines. A measuring protocol for clinical use was obtained by a gradual variation of spacial resolution,
measuring time and CA-injection parameters and was proved in normal volunteers and patients. An exact determination of the
bolus-arrival-time by means of a test-bolus injection was acquired. The best qualitative results were achieved by a double-dose
injection at 2 ml/s injection rate. The temporal reserves of ultra-fast sequences should be invested in the improvement of
the spatial resolution. To date, further investigations related to the problem of optimal CA-application may improve the potentials
of CE-MRA procedures.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the pattern of contrast enhancement with Levovist on coded harmonic angiographic ultrasonography of hepatic hemangiomas. METHODS: Twenty hemangiomas were evaluated with coded harmonic angiographic ultrasonography and a microbubble contrast agent. Verification of the diagnosis of a hemangioma was made by means of dynamic computed tomography (n = 8), dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (n = 1), radionuclide scanning (n = 6), or follow-up ultrasonography (n = 5). Ultrasonographic images were obtained before contrast agent administration and with a bolus injection of 2.5 g of a microbubble contrast agent (300 mg/mL Levovist; Schering AG, Berlin, Germany) every 10 to 15 seconds for 5 minutes. The contrast enhancement patterns of the 20 hemangiomas were assessed. RESULTS: The tumor diameters as measured on ultrasonography were 7 to 97 mm (mean, 26.7 mm). Of the 20 hemangiomas, peripheral globular enhancement with progressive centripetal fill-in was shown in 15 (75%), rimlike enhancement with progressive centripetal fill-in was shown in 2 (10%), and homogeneous enhancement was shown in 1 (5%). In the remaining 2 lesions (10%), the enhancement patterns could not be seen, because they were not found on coded harmonic angiographic ultrasonography. CONCLUSIONS: Coded harmonic angiographic ultrasonography with a microbubble contrast agent can depict the typical enhancement pattern in most hepatic hemangiomas. 相似文献
Background. We developed a method of closed-chest cardiopulmonary bypass to arrest and protect the heart with cardioplegic solution. This method was used in 54 dogs and the results were retrospectively analyzed.
Methods. Bypass cannulas were placed in the right femoral vessels. A balloon occlusion catheter was passed via the left femoral artery and positioned in the ascending aorta. A pulmonary artery vent was placed via the jugular vein. In 17 of the dogs retrograde cardioplegia was provided with a percutaneous coronary sinus catheter.
Results. Cardiopulmonary bypass time was 111 ± 27 minutes (mean ± standard deviation) and cardiac arrest time was 66 ± 21 minutes. Preoperative cardiac outputs were 2.9 ± 0.70 L/min and postoperative outputs were 2.9 ± 0.65 L/min (p = not significant). Twenty-one-French and 23F femoral arterial cannulas that allowed coaxial placement of the ascending aortic balloon catheter were tested in 3 male calves. Line pressures were higher, but not clinically limiting, with the balloon catheter placed coaxially.
Conclusions. Adequate cardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegia can be achieved in the dog without opening the chest, facilitating less invasive cardiac operations. A human clinical trial is in progress. 相似文献
Several alkyl[3-(2-chloroethyl)ureido] (CEU) benzene derivatives were prepared as potential anticancer agents. These new compounds were readily prepared in good yields by addition of anilines to 2-chloroethylisocyanate. Their cytotoxic activity was evaluated on human breast cancer (MDA-MB-231), human colon adenocarcinoma (LoVo) and mouse lymphocytic leukemia (P388D1) tumor cell lines. Several new CEUs were significantly more cytotoxic than the nitrogen mustard chlorambucil. The biological activity of these aromatic urea derivatives seems to be related to the nature and position of the alkyl substituents on the aromatic ring. Substitution by branched alkyl groups on position 4 of the aromatic ring led to cytotoxic molecules which are up to 5 times more potent than the standard chlorambucil. 相似文献
