If current is flowing in cardiac tissue, and if the myocardial fibres approach a sealed boundary at an angle, then the tissue within a few length constants of the boundary is polarised. This polarisation occurs when the cardiac tissue has different anisotropy ratios in the intracellular and extracellular spaces. This new mechanism of tissue polarisation is demonstrated using a simple, analytical model, and it is shown quantitatively that this polarisation can be nearly as large as that occurring near an electrode. 相似文献

Summary An experiment originally done by McElhaney et al. was repeated to obtain additional information about the effects of electrical fields on osteoporosis of disuse. The right femurs of 35 male rats were immobilized in plaster casts. Sixteen rats were treated with transcutaneous electrical fields of 30 Hz and 100 V/cm for periods of 2 or 8 h a day. While the right femurs of the untreated rats were found to be atrophic with respect to the opposite limb, in the treated rats the immobilized femur was made larger than the opposite bone. Longer daily treatments exaggerated this effect. The tumors found in the previous study were not seen in our experiments. Other similarities and differences in the 2 studies are discussed. 相似文献

The behavioural effects of s.c. injected apomorphine was studied on habituated rats in a test-box designed to measure 8 different components of behaviour. Apomorphine, 1 mg/kg, induced two different behaviours: The "G-type" of behaviour characterized by compulsive gnawing and the "LS-type" of behaviour characterized by increased locomotion, sniffing and repetitive head and limb movements. G-type behaviour was induced when apomorphine, dissolved by heating, was injected s.c. into the flank of the animal. LS-type behaviour was induced both when apomorphine, dissolved by heating, was injected s.c. into the neck and when it was dissolved by heating together with a high concentration of ascorbic acid (1 mg/ml) and injected s.c. into the flank. G-type behaviour could not be elicited by changing the dose which induced LS-type behaviour or vice versa. We therefore conclude that these different behavioural effects of apomorphine were not dose--response effects but were elicited by at least two different synaptic mechanisms in the brain. Experimentally induced changes from one of these apomorphine-induced behaviours to another can therefore not merely be interpreted as a change in the intensity of the behavioural response as is done in e.g. commonly used stereotypy rating scales. 相似文献

The luminance necessary for constant apparent brightness was measured as a function of retinal eccentricity at several photopic brightness levels and compared with the corresponding increment threshold functions. Thresholds rose substantially from the fovea to the periphery, but the contrast required for constant brightness showed little change as a function of eccentricity. A change of target size had relatively little effect on the shapes of the equal brightness curves. Two contributing factors to the difference between the threshold and equal brightness curves are systematic changes in
- (1) the apparent brightness at threshold
- (2) the exponent of the brightness power function. A neural mechanism is proposed which accounts for the results. A comparison with known retinal ganglion cell properties leads to the conclusion that this mechanism must be located proximally to the retina.

Neuroanatomical and -radiological studies have converged to suggest an atypical organisation in the temporal bank of the left-hemispheric Sylvian fissure for dyslexia. Against the background of this finding, we applied high temporal resolution magnetoencephalography (MEG) to investigate functional aspects of the left-hemispheric auditory cortex in 11 right-handed dyslexic children (aged 8–13 years) and nine matched normal subjects (aged 8–14 years). Event-related field components during a passive oddball paradigm with pure tones and consonant–vowel syllables were evaluated. The first major peak of the auditory evoked response, the M80, showed identical topographical distributions in both groups. In contrast, the generating brain structures of the later M210 component were located more anterior to the earlier response in children with dyslexia only. Control children exhibited the expected activation of more posterior source locations of the component that appeared later in the processing stream. Since the group difference in the relative location of the M210 source seemed to be independent of stimulus category, it is concluded that dyslexics and normally literate children differ as to the organisation of their left-hemispheric auditory cortex. 相似文献

This study identifies brain regions participating in the execution of eye movements for voluntary positive accommodation (VPA) during open-loop vergence conditions. Neuronal activity was estimated by measurement of changes in regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) with positron emission tomography and 15O-water. Thirteen naive volunteers viewed a checkerboard pattern with their dominant right eye, while a lens interrupted the line of gaze during alternate 1.5 s intervals. Three counterbalanced tasks required central fixation and viewing of a stationary checkerboard pattern: (i) through a 0.0 diopter (D) lens; (ii) through a -5.0-D lens while avoiding volitional accommodation and permitting blur; and (iii) through a -5. 0-D lens while maintaining maximal focus. The latter required large-amplitude, high-frequency VPA. As an additional control, seven of the subjects viewed passively a digitally blurred checkerboard through a 0.0-D lens as above. Optometric measurements confirmed normal visual acuity and ability to perform the focusing task (VPA). Large-amplitude saccadic eye movements, verified absent by electro-oculography, were inhibited by central fixation. Image averaging across subjects demonstrated multifocal changes in rCBF during VPA: striate and extrastriate visual cortices; superior temporal cortices; and cerebellar cortex and vermis. Decreases in rCBF occurred in the lateral intraparietal area, prefrontal and frontal and/or supplementary eye fields. Analysis of regions of interest in the visual cortex showed systematic and appropriate task dependence of rCBF. Activations may reflect sensorimotor processing along the reflex arc of the accommodation system, while deactivations may indicate inhibition of systems participating in visual search. 相似文献

目的:观察外源性电场对培养人视网膜色素上皮humanretinalpigmentepithelial,hRPE)细胞移行方向及细胞内肌动蛋白表达的影响。方法:培养于DMEM+100g/LFBS的hRPE细胞暴露于强度为6V/cm的电场中,未暴露于电场的细胞作为对照。观察并记录2h中每隔15min细胞移行的变化图像,测量细胞移行距离、细胞移行方向及其与场线间夹角。2h后采用间接免疫荧光法检测实验组与对照组细胞内肌动蛋白表达情况。SPSS10.0及Image-ProPlus5.0软件处理结果。结果:未暴露于电场中的hRPE细胞在观察期间呈无序移行,2h后细胞分布未见特殊变化,细胞内肌动蛋白有弱阳性表达。细胞暴露于电场30min后开始出现阴极方向的移行趋势,大部分细胞长轴趋向垂直于场线方向排列。细胞的移行表现为移行速度和移行方向的一致性均随时间延长而增加(P<0.05)。暴露于电场2h后,大部分细胞内肌动蛋白表达阳性,且多集中分布于细胞质内朝向电场阴极一侧。结论:外加电场可诱导hRPE细胞向电场阴极方向定向移行,同时伴有细胞内肌动蛋白阳性表达及定向分布。电场对细胞的作用与暴露时间成正相关。视网膜脱离后的内源性电场的存在可能参与并诱导了RPE细胞的定向移行。 相似文献

目的:观察早期原发性开角型青光眼视网膜光敏度分布情况及改变特点。方法:采用日本TopconSBP2020自动视野SDT340程序检测早期原发性开角型青光眼与正常眼的中心3°视网膜光敏感度。结果:早期原发性开角型青光眼各方向的视网膜光敏度与正常眼比较有非常显著差异(P<0.01);早期原发性开角型青光眼上方视网膜光敏度与其他各方比较有显著差异(P<0.05);早期青光眼的MD,ST与正常眼比较差异非常显著(P<0.01)。结论:视网膜光敏度的定量检测能做为早期原发性开角型青光眼的较早期视功能检测。 相似文献
