BACKGROUND CONTEXTPhysiological ranges and dynamic changes of atlantoaxial rotation (ROTC1/2), total cervical spine rotation (ROTCs) and the percentage of ROTC1/2 from ROTCs (ROTCperc) for different age groups have not yet been investigated in a sufficiently sized cohort. Furthermore, it is not clear whether demographic variables such a sex, smoking status or diabetes affect ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc.PURPOSEObtain physiological ranges of ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc for different age groups and determine their age-based dynamics. Investigate whether ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc are affected by sex, smoking status or diabetes.DESIGNObservational cross-sectional study.PATIENT SAMPLEPatients undergoing elective CT examinations of the head and neck region between August 2020 and January 2022.OUTCOME MEASURESRanges of motion of ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc in degrees.METHODSA total of 308 subjects underwent dynamic rotational CT examinations of the upper cervical spine. Patients were divided into three age categories A1 (27-49 years), A2 (50-69 years) and A3 (≥70 years). Category A3 was further divided into B1 (70-79 years) and B2 (≥80 years). Values of ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc were compared between all age groups, males and females, smokers and nonsmokers, diabetics a nondiabetics. Dynamics of ROTC1/2, ROTCs related to age and sex were visualized using scatterplot and trendline models.RESULTSROTC1/2 significantly decreased from group A1 (64.4°) to B2 (46.7°) as did ROTCs from A1 (131.2°) to B2 (97.6°). No significant differences of ROTperc were found between groups A1-B2 with values oscillating between 49% and 51%. Smoking and diabetes did not significantly affect ROTC1/2, ROTCs and ROTCperc, females had significantly higher ROTCs than males. Males and females demonstrated a different dynamic of ROTC1/2 and ROTCs demonstrated by out scatterplot and trendline models.CONCLUSIONSBoth ROTC1/2 and ROTCs significantly decrease with age, whereas ROTCperc remains stable. Females demonstrated higher ROTCs and their decrease of ROTC1/2 and ROTCs occurred in higher age groups compared to males. The functional repercussions atlantoaxial fusion are variable based on patient age and sex and should be taken into account prior to surgery. 相似文献

Aims
To estimate the proportions of specific hypometabolic patterns and their association with neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) in patients with cognitive impairment (CI).Methods
This multicenter study with 1037 consecutive patients was conducted from December 2012 to December 2019. 18F-FDG PET and clinical/demographic information, NPS assessments were recorded and analyzed to explore the associations between hypometabolic patterns and clinical features by correlation analysis and multivariable logistic regression models.Results
Patients with clinical Alzheimer's disease (AD, 81.6%, 605/741) and dementia with Lewy bodies (67.9%, 19/28) mostly had AD-pattern hypometabolism, and 76/137 (55.5%) of patients with frontotemporal lobar degeneration showed frontal and anterior temporal pattern (FT-P) hypometabolism. Besides corticobasal degeneration, patients with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (36/58), semantic dementia (7/10), progressive non-fluent aphasia (6/9), frontotemporal lobar degeneration and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (3/5), and progressive supranuclear palsy (21/37) also mostly showed FT-P hypometabolism. The proportion of FT-P hypometabolism was associated with the presence of hallucinations (R = 0.171, p = 0.04), anxiety (R = 0.182, p = 0.03), and appetite and eating abnormalities (R = 0.200, p = 0.01) in AD.Conclusion
Specific hypometabolic patterns in FDG-PET are associated with NPS and beneficial for the early identification and management of NPS in patients with CI. 相似文献75.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 breakthrough infection in highly vaccinated populations raises study on the effectiveness for inactivated vaccine, including effectiveness of the vaccine dose, the continuance of effectiveness, the effectiveness against severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019 and against secondary attacks. A population of 10 870 close contacts were investigated in a Delta variant's epidemic. The effectiveness of vaccination was estimated in a test-negative case–control study. In addition, serum was used to detect neutralizing antibodies, to explore their correlation to effectiveness. The vaccine effectiveness (VE) values were estimated for populations aged 12 years or older. The overall adjusted VE was 56.2% and a two-dose vaccine was more effective than a one-dose vaccine (56.7% vs. 43.8%). In addition, the population that got the second dose vaccine within 2 months showed higher VE than the population vaccinated for longer than 2 months (61.5% vs. 52.3%). Among the population who vaccinated 2 doses or within 2 months, a higher level of neutralizing antibodies was observed. For infected cases, vaccinated populations showed lower rates of transmission (2.63% vs. 4.36%). Further, those vaccinated cases, who were not found causing transmission, had a higher level of antibodies. The study provided a full view of the effectiveness of inactivated vaccines in a real-world setting. The time-related VE against infection and lower transmission of breakthrough vaccinated cases were observed, which may indicate that a necessity of a booster vaccine to maintain the effectiveness and high level of neutralizing antibody. 相似文献
