Effect of Human Interleukin-8(IL-8) on Highighly Purified Murine Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells

Gene targeting of mouse homolog of interleukin-8 receptor (IL-8R) resulted in the increase of myeloid cells in the bone marrow and peripheral blood,sugesting a potential ro le of IL-8 inregulating hematopoiesis of the myeloid lineage. In order to clarify the functions of IL-8 in hematopoiesis,we examined the effect of IL-8 on the proliferation of highly purified Lin ~-Sca-1~ c-kit as weil as Lin ~-Sca-l~-c.kit cells from murine bone marrow. IL-8 alone did not support the colony formation by either population .However,IL-8 increased mearly two fold colony
