Objective

The aim of this study was to determine (1) the effect of various scan delays on pixel intensity measurements and (2) the diagnostic accuracy of occlusal caries detection.

Methods

72 non-cavitated extracted human permanent molar teeth with sound and carious occlusal surfaces were radiographed using the DIGORA® storage phosphor plates (SPPs) (Soredex Corporation, Helsinki, Finland). Plates were scanned immediately and 10 min, 30 min, 60 min and 120 min after exposure. Three different plates were used for each scan delay. An aluminium (Al) wedge was used to evaluate the change in mean grey values (MGVs) for scan delays. Diagnostic accuracy for occlusal caries detection was performed by scoring all the digital images. The true presence of caries was determined by stereomicroscopy. Comparison of MGVs of the Al wedge for immediate and delayed scans was made using repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey–Kramer tests. The accuracy was expressed as the area under the receiver operating characteristics curves (Az). Azs were compared using two-way ANOVA and t-tests. Kappa was used to measure inter and intraobserver agreement.

Results

The mean Azs of immediately scanned plates were higher than the Azs of plates scanned with four different delays (p < 0.05). The Az of immediately scanned images was significantly higher than the Azs of images with 60 min and 120 min scan delays (p < 0.05) but not for 10 min and 30 min delays (p > 0.05). MGVs of immediately scanned plates were significantly higher than the plates scanned with four different delays (p < 0.05). Agreement decreased with increasing scan delays.

Conclusion

Scanning of DIGORA SPPs should not be delayed beyond 30 min for accurate occlusal caries diagnosis.  相似文献

Objectives

The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of cone beam CT (CBCT) in detecting vertical root fractures and to compare the accuracy with images from an intraoral sensor and from conventional intraoral film.

Methods

60 extracted, single-rooted human teeth were divided equally into two groups: a control group of 30 teeth and an induced fracture group of 30 teeth. All teeth were randomly placed into sockets in six dry mandibles. Each tooth was imaged by three modalities: CBCT, intraoral digital radiography and intraoral F-speed film. Three beam angulations (an orthogonal projection and additional projections with ±20° horizontal shifts of the central ray) were used when radiographs were made using film and a digital sensor. Three oral and maxillofacial radiologists evaluated the presence of root fractures twice in each image modality using a five-point confidence rating scale. Areas under receiver operating characteristic curves (Az) were computed for each observer and modality and were tested for statistical differences using the Kruskal–Wallis test.

Results

There was no statistical difference in the performance of the three modalities (mean of Az values: CBCT = 0.811, film = 0.797 and sensor = 0.775; p = 0.771).

Conclusions

There was no significant difference between intraoral film, a high-resolution complementary metal oxide semiconductor digital imaging system and CBCT in detecting vertical root fractures in mandibular single-rooted teeth.  相似文献

Objectives

The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic quality of a new wireless handheld unit (ADX4000; Dexcowin Co. Ltd, Korea) on conventional bitewings and its LCD screen for the detection of approximal caries in primary teeth.

Methods

In total, 108 approximal surfaces of primary teeth were examined in vitro by 3 observers. Conventional films were viewed under subdued lighting conditions on a conventional view box. Digital 3.5 inch images were displayed on the built-in monitor of the ADX4000 and digital 17 inch images were viewed on a 17 inch monitor. The true caries diagnosis was based on histological assessment of the approximal surfaces after sectioning the primary teeth. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (Az) analysis was used to assess the diagnostic quality of imaging modalities.

Results

The areas under the ROC curves ranged from 0.786 (digital 17 inch) to 0.813 (digital 3.5 inch). No statistically significant differences were found between the three modalities for detecting approximal caries.

Conclusions

It was concluded that the diagnostic quality of conventional film and digital images, which were exposed and viewed by a new wireless handheld unit, was comparable.  相似文献

Objective:

We sought to calculate accumulated dose (DA) to the rectum in patients treated with radiotherapy for prostate cancer. We were particularly interested in whether dose–surface maps (DSMs) provide additional information to dose–volume histograms (DVHs).

Methods:

Manual rectal contours were obtained for kilovoltage and daily megavoltage CT scans for 10 participants from the VoxTox study (380 scans). Daily delivered dose recalculation was performed using a ray-tracing algorithm. Delivered DVHs were summated to create accumulated DVHs. The rectum was considered as a cylinder, cut and unfolded to produce daily delivered DSMs; these were summated to produce accumulated DSMs.

Results:

Accumulated dose-volumes were different from planned in all participants. For one participant, all DA levels were higher and all volumes were larger than planned. For four participants, all DA levels were lower and all volumes were smaller than planned. For each of these four participants, ≥1% of pixels on the accumulated DSM received ≥5 Gy more than had been planned.

Conclusion:

Differences between accumulated and planned dose-volumes were seen in all participants. DSMs were able to identify differences between DA and planned dose that could not be appreciated from the DVHs. Further work is needed to extract the dose data embedded in the DSMs. These will be correlated with toxicity as part of the VoxTox Programme.

Advances in knowledge:

DSMs are able to identify differences between DA and planned dose that cannot be appreciated from DVHs alone and should be incorporated into future studies investigating links between DA and toxicity.  相似文献

Objectives

The aim of this study was to compare the properties of the DFL Contrast FV-58 F-speed film (DFL Co., Rio de Janerio, Brazil) with the Kodak Insight E/F speed film (Eastman Kodak, Rochester, NY) in fresh and exhausted processing solutions. The parameters studied were the speed, average gradient and latitude.

Methods

Five samples of each type of film were exposed under standardized conditions over 5 weeks. The films were developed in fresh and progressively exhausted processing solutions. Characteristic curves were constructed from values of optical density and radiation dose and were used to calculate the parameters. An analysis of variance was performed separately for film type and time.

Results

DFL Contrast FV-58 film has a speed and average gradient that is significantly higher than Insight film, whereas the values of latitude are lower. Exhausted processing solutions were not significant in the parameters studied.

Conclusion

DFL Contrast FV-58 film has stable properties when exhausted manual processing solutions are used and can be recommended for use in dental practice, contributing to dose reduction.  相似文献

Objectives

The aims of this study were (1) to compare the accuracy of the detection of approximal enamel caries lesions using three intraoral storage phosphor plate digital systems and one conventional film-based radiographic system; and (2) to determine whether there is a correlation between the histological and radiographic measurements of enamel caries.

Methods

160 approximal surfaces were radiographed under standardized conditions using three storage phosphor stimulable systems (DenOptix and Digora FMX with white and blue plates), and one film system (Insight film). 17 observers scored the images for the presence and depth of caries using a 4-point scale. The presence of caries was validated histologically (gold standard). Two-way analysis of variance was used to test the differences in sensitivity, specificity and overall accuracy (TP + TN). The data from the radiographic and histological measurements were statistically analysed by Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient.

Results

Two-way analysis of variance and the post hoc t-test demonstrated that Digora (white plate) had higher specificity and overall accuracy values than DenOptix (P = 0.021); there was no statistically significant difference among the other imaging modalities (P > 0.05). There was no significant correlation between the histological depth measurements and the radiographic measurements from Digora (blue plate) (P = 0.43), Digora (white plate) (P = 0.15), DenOptix (P = 0.17) and Insight film (P = 0.06).

Conclusions

The results suggest that (1) the performance of the three storage phosphor image plate systems was similar to that of the Insight film for detection of approximal enamel caries, and (2) the increase in histological depth of enamel caries was not significantly correlated with radiographic measurements.  相似文献

Objectives

The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of diagnoses of occlusal caries lesions from digital images captured using a photostimulable phosphor (PSP) sensor under in vivo and in vitro conditions and to present useful clinical data regarding the clinical application of the system.

Methods

The study sample comprised 60 mandibular third molars (30 sound and 30 with occlusal caries) requiring extraction. A pre-extraction and post-extraction image of each tooth were acquired using a PSP sensor. A stopwatch was used to record the time required for the clinical procedures. Patient comfort or discomfort during image acquisition was also recorded. Images were evaluated twice by three observers using a five-point scale. Kappa coefficients were calculated to assess intra- and interobserver agreement. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the diagnostic performance of each observer for both in vivo and in vitro images. The t-test was used to compare Az values, with a significance level set at 0.05 (α _ 0.05). The time required for clinical imaging procedures in patients who claimed discomfort and in those who did not was compared using the Mann–Whitney U-test.

Results

Intraobserver agreement was almost perfect, whereas interobserver agreement was fair to moderate. No statistically significant differences were found in the accuracy of diagnoses of occlusal caries lesions using in vivo and in vitro digital images. The median time needed for image exposure was 1.04 min and the median time needed to complete the image acquisition procedure was 1.45 min.

Conclusions

The diagnosis of accuracy of occlusal caries lesions using in vivo and in vitro digital images yielded similar results.  相似文献

Objectives

The aim of this paper was to evaluate a transillumination (TI) system using near-infrared (NIR) light and bitewing radiographs for the detection of early approximal enamel caries lesions.

Methods

Mesiodistal sections of teeth (n = 14) were cut with various thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 4.75 mm. Both sides of each section were included, 17 approximal surfaces with natural enamel caries and 11 surfaces considered intact. The approximal surfaces were illuminated by NIR light and X-ray. Captured images were analysed by two calibrated specialists in radiology, and re-analysed after 6 months using stereomicroscope images as a gold standard.

Results

The interexaminer reliability (Kappa test statistic) for the NIR TI technique showed moderate agreement on first (0.55) and second (0.48) evaluation, and low agreement for bitewing radiographs on first (0.26) and second (0.32) evaluation. In terms of accuracy, the sensitivity for the NIR TI system was 0.88 and the specificity was 0.72. For the bitewing radiographs the sensitivity ranged from 0.35 to 0.53 and the specificity ranged from 0.50 to 0.72.

Conclusion

In the same samples and conditions tested, NIR TI images showed reliability and the enamel caries surfaces were better identified than on dental radiographs.  相似文献

Objectives:

The aim of this CBCT investigation on the detection of caries was to assess the influence of artefacts produced by the presence of amalgam fillings located in the vicinity.

Methods:

102 non-cavitated pre-molar and molar teeth were placed in blocks of silicone with approximal contacts consisting of 3 sound or carious teeth and 1 mesial–occlusal–distal amalgam-filled tooth in-between. Radiographs of all the teeth were recorded using the CBCT system (NewTom™ 3G; QR Srl, Verona, Italy; field of view, 9 inches). Data from the CBCT unit were reconstructed and sectioned in the mesiodistal tooth plane. Images were evaluated twice by two observers, using a five-step confidence scale. After the CBCT examination, the teeth were individually sectioned in the mesiodistal direction with a diamond saw. Using a light microscope at ×40 magnification, the true morphological status of all approximal surfaces was established.

Results:

Sensitivity of the CBCT for the detection of caries on surfaces located proximally and distally to an amalgam filing ranged from 0.27 to 0.30 for enamel and from 0.47 to 0.56 for dentin. Specificity values for enamel proximal and distal lesions were 0.48 and 0.53, respectively, for enamel and 0.33 to 0.38, respectively, for proximal and distal dentin cases. Intra-observer reliability was 0.84, and interobserver reliability was 0.49.

Conclusions:

Owing to its low specificity, scans from a CBCT examination should not be used to determine the presence of demineralization of the tooth surface when amalgam fillings are present in the region of interest.  相似文献

Objectives

To characterize the dose distribution for a range of cone beam CT (CBCT) units, investigating different field of view sizes, central and off-axis geometries, full or partial rotations of the X-ray tube and different clinically applied beam qualities. The implications of the dose distributions on the definition and practicality of a CBCT dose index were assessed.

Methods

Dose measurements on CBCT devices were performed by scanning cylindrical head-size water and polymethyl methacrylate phantoms, using thermoluminescent dosemeters, a small-volume ion chamber and radiochromic films.

Results

It was found that the dose distribution can be asymmetrical for dental CBCT exposures throughout a homogeneous phantom, owing to an asymmetrical positioning of the isocentre and/or partial rotation of the X-ray source. Furthermore, the scatter tail along the z-axis was found to have a distinct shape, generally resulting in a strong drop (90%) in absorbed dose outside the primary beam.

Conclusions

There is no optimal dose index available owing to the complicated exposure geometry of CBCT and the practical aspects of quality control measurements. Practical validation of different possible dose indices is needed, as well as the definition of conversion factors to patient dose.  相似文献

Objectives

The aim was to investigate the possibility of evaluating the modulation transfer function (MTF) of cone beam CT (CBCT) for dental use using the oversampling method.

Methods

The CBCT apparatus (3D Accuitomo) with an image intensifier was used with a 100 μm tungsten wire placed inside the scanner at a slight angle to the plane perpendicular to the plane of interest and scanned. 200 contiguous reconstructed images were used to obtain the oversampling line-spread function (LSF). The MTF curve was obtained by computing the Fourier transformation from the oversampled LSF. Line pair tests were also performed using Catphan®.

Results

The oversampling method provided smooth and reproducible MTF curves. The MTF curves revealed that the spatial resolution in the z-axis direction was significantly higher than that in the axial direction. This result was also confirmed by the line pair test.

Conclusions

MTF analysis was performed successfully using the oversampling method. In addition, this study clarified that the 3D Accuitomo had high spatial resolution, especially in the z-axis direction.  相似文献

Objective:

To differentiate pre-invasive lesion from invasive pulmonary adenocarcinoma (IPA) appearing as ground-glass nodules (GGNs) using CT features.

Methods:

149 GGNs were enrolled in this study, with 74 pure GGNs (p-GGNs) and 75 mixed GGNs (m-GGNs). Firstly, univariate analysis was used to analyse the difference of CT features between pre-invasive lesion and IPA. Then, multivariate analysis was conducted to identify variables that could independently differentiate pre-invasive lesion from IPA. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to evaluate the differentiating value of identified variables.

Results:

In the p-GGNs, multivariate analysis showed that the amount of blood vessels was an independent risk factor. Using the amount of blood vessels “≥1” as the diagnostic criterion, we could diagnose IPA with a sensitivity of 100%. Using the amount of blood vessels “=0” as the diagnostic criterion, we could diagnose pre-invasive lesions with a specificity of 100%. In the m-GGNs, multivariate analysis showed that the volume of solid portion (VSolid) and pleural indentation were two independent risk factors. One further model was constructed using these two variables: model = 2.508 × (VSolid + 1.407) × (pleural indentation − 1.016). Using the new model, improved diagnostic ability was achieved compared with using VSolid or pleural indentation alone.

Conclusion:

The amount of blood vessels through the p-GGNs would be an important criterion during clinical management, while VSolid and pleural indentation seemed important for m-GGNs. Moreover, the new model could further improve the differentiating value for m-GGNs.

Advances in knowledge:

CT features are useful in differentiating pre-invasive lesion from IPA appearing as GGNs.  相似文献

Objectives:

The aim of the present study was to analyse the mineralization pattern of enamel and dentin in patients affected by X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XLHR) using micro-CT (µCT), and to associate enamel and dentin mineralization in primary and permanent teeth with tooth position, gender and the presence/absence of this disease.

Methods:

19 teeth were collected from 5 individuals from the same family, 1 non-affected by XLHR and 4 affected by XLHR. Gender, age, tooth position (anterior/posterior) and tooth type (deciduous/permanent) were recorded for each patient. Following collection, teeth were placed in 0.1% thymol solution until µCT scan. Projection images were reconstructed and analysed. A plot profile describing the greyscale distance relationship in µCT images was achieved through a line bisecting each tooth in a region with the presence of enamel and dentin. The enamel and dentin mineralization densities were measured and compared. Univariate ANOVA and post hoc Tukey tests were used for all comparisons.

Results:

Teeth of all affected patients presented dentin with a different mineralization pattern compared with the teeth of healthy patients with dentin defects observed next to the pulp chambers. Highly significant differences were found for gray values between anterior and posterior teeth (p < 0.05), affected and non-affected (p < 0.05), as well as when position and disease status were considered (p < 0.05).

Conclusions:

In conclusion, the mineralization patterns of dentin differed when comparing teeth from patients with and without FHR, mainly next to pulp chambers where areas with porosity and consequently lower mineral density and dentin defects were found.  相似文献

Objectives:

To investigate the frequency, position, number and morphology of enamel pearls (EPs) using micro-CT (µCT) and to report a case of an EP mimicking an endodontic–periodontic lesion.

Methods:

Cone beam CT (CBCT) was performed in a patient to evaluate a radio-opaque nodule observed on the left maxillary first molar during the radiographic examination. Additionally, 23 EPs were evaluated regarding frequency, position, number and morphology by means of µCT. The results were statistically compared using the Student’s t-test for independent samples.

Results:

1 pearl was presented in 13 specimens, while 5 specimens presented 2 pearls. The most frequent location of the EPs was the furcation between the disto-buccal and the palatal roots of the maxillary molars. Overall, the mean major diameter, volume and surface area were 1.98 ± 0.85 mm, 1.76 ± 1.36 mm3 and 11.40 ± 7.59 mm2, respectively, with no statistical difference between maxillary second and third molars (p > 0.05). In the case report, CBCT revealed an EP between the disto-buccal and the palatal roots of the maxillary first left molar associated with advanced localized periodontitis. The tooth was referred for extraction.

Conclusions:

EPs, located generally in the furcation area, were observed in 0.74% of the sample. The majority was an enamel–dentin pearl type and no difference was found in maxillary second and third molars regarding diameter, volume and surface area of the pearls. In this report, the EP mimicked an endodontic–periodontic lesion and was a secondary aetiological factor in the periodontal breakdown.  相似文献

Objective

We wanted to differentiate between transient ischemic attack (TIA) and minor stroke using fractional anisotropy and three-dimensional (3D) fiber tractography.

Materials and Methods

The clinical data, conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) were obtained for 45 TIA patients and 33 minor stroke patients. The fractional anisotrophy ratio (rFA) between the lesion and the mirrored corresponding contralateral normal tissue was calculated and analyzed. The spatial relationship between the lesion and the corticospinal tract (CST) was analyzed and the lesion sizes in the minor stroke patients and TIA patients were compared.

Results

Twenty-two of the 45 TIA patients (49%) revealed focal abnormalities following DWI. The rFA was significantly lower (p < 0.05) in the stroke patients (0.71 ± 0.29) compared to that of the TIA patients (1.05 ± 0.37). The CST was involved in almost all stroke lesions, but it was not involved in 68% of the TIA lesions. The TIA patients had significantly lower CST injury scores (3.25 ± 1.75) than did the stroke patients (8.80 ± 2.39) (p = 0.004).

Conclusion

Our data indicate that TIA and minor stroke can be identified by analyzing the rFA and the degree of CST involvement, and this may also allow more accurate prediction of a patient''s long-term recovery or disability.  相似文献

Objective

We wanted to prospectively evaluate the effect of various positions of the patient on gastric distension and lesion conspicuity during performance of CT gastrography (CTG).

Materials and Methods

One hundred thirteen consecutive patients with gastric cancer underwent CTG in the 30° left posterior oblique (LPO), supine, and prone positions. Two radiologists scored (a grade from 1-4) the degree of gastric distension and the lesion conspicuity according to the three scanning positions and the three gastric portions. Two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) images were used for analysis. Finally, these data were compared with the endoscopic findings and surgical results.

Results

The mean scores of gastric distension and lesion conspicuity for the LPO and supine positions were higher than those for the prone position (p < 0.001) in the gastric middle and lower portions. However, there was no significant difference between the LPO and supine positions (p ≥ 0.21). As for the gastric upper portion, the mean scores of gastric distension in the prone position were higher than those in the two other positions (p < 0.001). The prone position showed better lesion conspicuity than the two other positions for only one of two cases of gastric cancer in the upper portion of the stomach.

Conclusion

CTG performed in the LPO position or the supine position combined with CTG performed in the prone position is optimal for achieving good gastric distension and evaluating the lesion conspicuity of gastric cancer.  相似文献

Objective

The aim of this study was to investigate the usefulness of texture analysis in the characterization of oral cancers involving the buccal mucosa and to assess its effectiveness in differentiating between the various grades of the tumour.

Methods

Contrast enhanced CT examination was carried out in 21 patients with carcinoma of the buccal mucosa who had consented to retrospective analysis during a research study that was approved by the institutional review board. Two regions of interest (ROIs) were created, one at the site of the lesion and the other at the contralateral normal side. Texture analysis measures of fractal dimension (FD), lacunarity and grey level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) were computed for each ROI. The numeric data from the two ROIs were compared and were correlated with the tumour grade as confirmed by biopsy.

Results

The difference between the mean FD and GLCM parameters of the lesion vs the normal ROI were statistically significant (p < 0.05); no significant difference was observed between the three grades of tumour for any of the parameters (p > 0.05).

Conclusion

Texture analysis on CT images is a potential method in the characterization of oral cancers involving the buccal mucosa and deserves further investigation as a predictor of tumour aggression.  相似文献

Objectives

The diagnosis of caries lesions is still a matter of concern in dentistry. The diagnosis of dental caries by digital radiography has a number of advantages over conventional radiography; however, this method has not been explored fully in the field of paediatric dentistry. This in vitro research evaluated the accuracy of direct digital radiography compared with visual inspection and conventional radiography in the diagnosis of occlusal caries lesions in primary molars.

Methods

50 molars were selected and evaluated under standardized conditions by 2 previously calibrated examiners according to 3 diagnostic methods (visual inspection, conventional radiography and direct digital radiography). Direct digital radiographs were obtained with the Dixi3 system (Planmeca, Helsinki, Finland) and the conventional radiographs with InSight film (Kodak Eastman Co., Rochester, NY). The images were scored and a reference standard was obtained histologically. The interexaminer reliability was calculated using Cohen''s kappa test and the specificity, sensitivity and accuracy of the methods were calculated.

Results

Examiner reliability was good. For lesions limited to the enamel, visual inspection showed significantly higher sensitivity and accuracy than both radiographic methods, but no significant difference was found in specificity. For teeth with dentinal caries, no significant differences were found for any parameter when comparing visual and radiographic evaluation.

Conclusions

Although less accurate than the visual method for detecting caries lesions confined to the enamel, the direct digital radiographic method is as effective as conventional radiographic examination and visual inspection of primary teeth with occlusal caries when the dentine is involved.  相似文献

Objectives

The main objective of this study was to make a comparison between the relaxation rates in jaw cysts and abscesses. Such a comparison should provide quantitative information for MR image analysis.

Methods

A phantom containing 20 odontogenic jaw cysts and 11 jaw abscesses was imaged with 1.5 T MR. T1 measurements were performed by using a mixed sequence of inversion recovery and spin echo, while T2 measurements were carried out by the Carr–Purcell Meiboom–Gill (CPMG) sequence. Cystic fluids and abscesses were compared statistically.

Results

In cysts and abscesses, respectively, the mean 1/T1 was 0.9355 s−1 and 0.8245 s−1 and the mean 1/T2 was 2.4575 s−1 and 4.7073 s−1. The 1/T2 in cysts was very highly significantly different from that in abscesses (p = 0.0001). Both T1 and T2 were linearly proportional to material contents. T2 relaxivities [26.458 ml (g s)−1 for abscesses and 21.455 ml (g s)−1 for cysts] were higher than T1 relaxivities [5.4766 ml (g s)−1 for abscesses and 10.075 ml (g s)−1 for cysts].

Discussion

Present T2 measurements differentiate cysts from abscesses with a confidence interval of 95%. Because in vivo and in vitro image contrasts are changed by the same parameters, the T2 findings should present valuable information for in vivo MRI. Hence the significant difference and the relaxivities may provide quantitative information for clinicians and researchers making image analyses.

Conclusion

T2 may differentiate cysts from abscesses. The difference in T2 is related to the material content of samples.  相似文献

Objective

To compare the effect of imaging time delay on the MR detection of intracerebral metastases using single dose gadobutrol.

Materials and Methods

Twenty-one patients with intracerebral metastases underwent contrast-enhanced MR with three-dimensional T1-weighted sequence at 1 minute, 5 minutes and 10 minutes after a single dose injection of gadobutrol. One hundred index metastatic lesions (1 to 30 mm; median, 7 mm) were chosen for the analysis. For the qualitative analysis, lesion conspicuity were assessed on a 1 (worst) to 5 (best) scale of the index lesions by an expert reader. For the quantitative analysis, signal intensity (SI) of enhancing lesions and normal parenchyma was measured to determine the contrast rate (CR, %) ([postcontrast SI lesion - postcontrast SI white matter] × 100 / postcontrast SI white matter) and the enhancement rate (ER, %) ([postcontrast SI lesion - baseline SI gray matter] × 100 / baseline SI gray matter). Statistical comparisons were made between three different time delays.

Results

Lesion conspicuity did not differ significantly among the three time delays (p = 0.097). Although the SI, CR and ER of lesions did not reveal any significant difference between 1 minute and 5 minutes delayed images, both the 1 minute and 5 minutes delayed images showed significantly higher CRs of lesions compared with the 10 minutes delayed images (p = 0.004 and p = 0.001, respectively).

Conclusion

With single dose gadobutrol, imaging time delay did not have an effect on lesion conspicuity. Both 1-minute and 5-minute-delayed imaging after gadobutrol injection appears to be effective for the detection of intracerebral metastases.  相似文献
