A child with atopy produces IgE antibodies after exposure to common environmental allergens. The atopic diseases (eczema, asthma and rhinoconjunctivitis) are clinical syndromes each defined by a group of symptoms and signs. Not all children with atopy will have atopic disease or develop symptoms after exposure to an allergen. Both genetic and environmental factors determine the development of atopic disease. The presence of specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens is determined with skin prick or radioallergosorbent testing in children with atopy. Test results should be interpreted in the context of the clinical history and further investigations (eg, allergen avoidance or challenge). Management of atopic disease is frequently symptomatic, but it is important to avoid identified allergen triggers. Immunotherapy may be considered in selected school-age children with severe rhinoconjunctivitis. Preventing atopic disease in high-risk infants and hindering progression of disease in children with established disease are the areas of active research.  相似文献

Recognition of neonatal liver disease has been heavily dependent on the occurrence of jaundice. In most instances the jaundice is related to specific disturbances in bilirubin transport and other tests of liver function are normal. In contrast, hepatitis and other liver diseases not specifically affecting bilirubin transport often go undetected unless jaundice occurs.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To explore the regularity of bone development and metabolism in childhood. METHODS: A survey was made to collect and analyze the data on bone biochemistry, the density of lumbar vertebrae and the X-ray examination of calcaneus in 224 healthy children aged 3-15 years in the urban area of Chengdu. RESULTS: Comparative analysis of serum and urine calcium and phosphate concentrations showed no significant difference between the age groups. The serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP) were found to increase with age and reach their peak values in children aged 7-12 years, and their values were significantly higher than that of adults (P < 0.05). The density of lumbar vertebrae and the trabecular bone of calcanesus also developed with age. CONCLUSION: The measurements of the bone biochemistry, bone density and the trabecular bone of calcaneus which reflect the bone development and metabolism have their special regularity in childhood. The criteria in use for adulthood is not fit for the evaluation in childhood. The data obtained can be used in clinical diagnosis and treatment of the bone metabolic diseases of children.  相似文献
