TREATMENT OF 150 CASES OF FACIAL PALSY WITH ACUPUNCTURE PLUS TDP IRRIDIATION

In the present paper,the author summarizes the results of treatment of 150 cases of facial palsy with acupuncture plus TDP irradiation.Main acupoints used are Bihui(GV 20),Yintang(EX-HN 3),Sibai(ST 2),Dicang (ST 4)and Hegu(LI 4),After insertion,the needles are retained but not manipulated,and the acupoints,are irradiated with TDP for 20-60 min every time.The treatment is conducted once daily,with 10 sessions being a therapeutic course.Following 6-28sessions of treatment,of the 150 cases,145 are cured,2 experience remarkable improvement and 3 have improvement,with the total effective rate being 100%.The fact indicates that acupuncture plus TDP irradiation is rather effective in the treatment of facial palsy.     

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON TREATMENT OF HICCUP BY ACUPOINT DIGITAL-PRESSING AND MASSAGE

In the present paper, 32 cases of hiccup are treated with acupoint digital pressing and massage. According to syndrome differentiation, hiccup is divided into 5 types including stomach-cold, reversed rising of the stomach-fire, adverse flow of qi and phlegm obstruction, deficiency of both spleen-yang and kidney-yang and insufficiency of the stomach-yin. Acupoints used are Zusanli (ST 36), Neiguan (PC 6), Zhongfu (LU 1), etc. and pressed with fingers repeatedly. Then, massage manipulations are performed by tapping the patient's back repeatedly for 5 - 6 times; tapping Jiuwei (CV 15) area, and pressing the tender-point beside the left side of T3_4 spinous processes and Geshu (BL 17). After treatment, of the 32 cases of hiccup, 23 cases are cured, 6 have remarkable improvement and 3 are failed in treatment, with the effective rate being 90.6% .

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON TREATMENT OF 61 CASES OF INSOMNIA WITH AURICULAR PLASTER THERAPY

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of auricular plaster (otopoint-pressure) therapy in the treatment of insomnia. Methods: In this paper, 61 cases of insomnia patients including 16 males and 45 females were treated with Ershenmen (MA-TF 1), Zhen (MA-AT), Yuanzhong (MA-AT), Nao Dian and E (MA-AT), confined with other otopoints according to symptoms. The otopoint was stuck with a piece of plaster adhered with vaccaria seeds and pressured by the patient him- or her-self. The treatment was given twice a week, with 7 times being a therapeutic course. Results. After 1-2 courses of treatment, 19 (31.15%) cases were cured, 34 (55.74%) had improvement and 8 (13.11%) had no ~, with the total effective rate being 86.9%. Conclusion: Auricular plaster therapy works well in the treatment of insomnia patient.     

OBSERVATION ON THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF CT—AIDED SURROUNDING NEEDLING TREATMENT OF ISCHEMIC STROKE

121 cases of ischemic stroke were randomly divided into CT-aided surrounding needling group (CTASN, 61 cases) and scalp Acupuncture group (SA, 60 cases). After 30 sessions of treatment the therapeutic results of the two groups are significantly different (P<0.05), the therapeutic effect of CTASN group is better than that of SA group. The plasma contents of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1a of the two groups change considerably after acupuncture treatment, the change in CTASN group is more obvious.     

CLINICAL STUDY ON SPLEEN—STOMACH—REINFORCING MOXIBUSTION TREATMENT OF DIARRHEA—TYPE IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME

In the present paper, the therapeutic effect of spleen- stomach- reinforcing moxibustion for treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is observed and its underlying mechanisms on immunity are analyzed. A total of 72 IBS patients are randomly divided into moxibustion group (n=46) and acupuncture group (control group, n = 26). Acu-points used are Zhongwan (CV 12), Qihai (CV 6) and Zusanli (ST 36), etc. Serum IgG, IgA and IgM contents, blood T-lympocytes (T3+, T4+,T8+) counts, T4+/T8+, cancer embryonic antigen (CEA) content, serum IL-2 and slL-2R contents are assayed for evaluating changes of the immunocompetence. After two courses of treatment (24 sessions), results show that in moxibustion group, 25 cases (54.35%) are cured, 17 experience improvement in clinical symptoms and 4 have no apparent changes, with an effective rate of 91.30% ; in control group, 8 cases (30. 78%) are cured, 12 experience improvement and 6 have no marked improvement, with an effective rate of 76.92% . TREATMENT OF 18 CASES OF TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA WITH ELONGATED NEEDLE

In this paper, a total of 18 cases of primary trigerninal neuralgia were treated with elongated needle.Of the 18 cases, 5 were male and 15 female, ranging in age from 27 to 58 years and in disease duration from 3 days to 8 years. Main acupoints used were Taiyang (EX-HN 5) to Xiaguan (ST 7, for penetration needling), Xiajiache, Fengchi (GB 20), Yanglingquan (GB 34) and Taichong (LR 3). The treatment was given once daily, with 12 sessions being a therapeutic course. After 2 courses of treatment, of the 18 cases, 10 cases were cured, 7 experienced improvemerit in pain and one failed in the treatment, with an effective rate of 94.4%. The key point for treating trigerninal neuralgia is applying penetrative needling from EX-HN 5 to ST 7 to achieve ideal needling sensations.     

OBSERVATION ON THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF MOXIBUSTION FOR TREATMENT OF PREGNANT VOMITING

In the present observation,302 patients with pregnant vomiting were divided randomlyinto moxibustion group（n=151）and Chinese drug group（n=151）.In the former group,moxlbus-tlon was at Guanyuan（CV 4）and Sanyinjiao（SP 6）,etc,and In the later,Chinese drugs were giv-en according to differentiation of symptoms and signs and types of syndromes.Results show that outof the 151 cases of the former group, 146 (96.7%) are cured and 5 (3. 3 % ) improved; out of the 151cases of the Chinese drug group, 89 (58. 9% ) are cured and 62 (41. 1 % ) improved. Comparison be-tween the two groups in the cure rate shows a very significant difference (P <0. 0001 ), illustratingthat moxibustion therapy is superior to Chinese drug in treatment of pregnant vomiting.     

CLINICAL STUDY ON TREATMENT OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOTIC SYNDROME WITH BEETLE NEEDLE

The authors treated 68 cases of cervical spondylotic syndrome with beetle nee-dle,a new needle apparatus(made by themselves)which is not inserted into the skin of the humanbody.A total of 15 sessions of treatment were given to every patient.Results showed that 56 cases(82％)were cured,7 cases(10.3％)improved and 5 cases(7.4％)invalid.Just as its name implies,the beetle is instead of acupuncture needle.All the diseases being able to be treated with acupunctureneedle could also be treated with beetle needle.In addition,the beetle needle therapy has no violentpain,is safe,effective and easy to be popularized. It also has no harm to viscerae,no cross infection,no dangers of broken needle and of failing during treatment,so,the patient needs not to be in fear.The therapy is preferable for patients to accept.     

ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOPATHY:CLINICAL REPORT OF 172 CASES

The authors have treated 172 cases of cervical spondylopathy with acupuncture basedon the differentiation of symptoms and signs.Of 172 cases,58（33.2％）were cured,60（35.0％）were markedly improved,and 48（27.9％）were improved.The total effective rate was 96.1％.Acupuncture treatment is more effective for cervical spondylopathy with little change in bone sub-stance,but less effective in cases with severe bone proliferation.And its eminant effect is an algesia,no significant change is found in X-ray examination before and after treatment.     

CLINICAL OBSERVATION ON TREATMENT OF 68 CASES OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS WITH ACUPUNCTURE SUPPLEMENTED BY TRACTION OF NECK

The 68 patients of cervlcal spondylosis were treated with acupuneture at Fengchi（GB 20）,Fengfu（GV 16）and Ashi point supplemented by traction of neck,once a day or every 2days,10 times of treatment for one course.After atreatment of 2 courses,31 cases（45.5％）werecured;13 cases（19.1％）markedly improved;18 cases （26.4％）improved and 6 cases（8.8％）notimproved.The total effective rate was 91.1％.In this article the classification,etiology and principlesof treatment of this dseases were discussed。

TREATMENT OF 33 CASES OF APOPLETIC HEMIPLEGIA BY COMBINED ACUPUNCTURE THERAPIES

In the present study,33 cases of apopletic hemiplegia were treated with combinedtherapies of scalp-,body-acupuncture and restoring consciousness needling;besides,electroacupuncture（EA）stimulation was added.The treatment was given once daily,six days constitutea therapeutic course with an interval of 1—2 days between courses.After 5 courses of treatment,10cases（30.30％）were cured,15（45.45％）markedly effective,7（21.21％）effective and 1（3.03％）was ineffective.The total effective rate was 96.96％.
