Integrating the online nursing evidence‐based information resources for evidence‐based nursing study in China

At present Chinese nurses could not get the up‐to‐date and high‐quality evidences efficiently and conveniently due to language barrier and other practical difficulties. This program built a Chinese website of integrated evidence‐based network information resources for EBN studies. Researchers hope to provide practical guidance and advice for nurses in non‐English‐speaking countries..     

Supporting Breast‐feeding When a Woman Is Homeless

PURPOSE. This case study demonstrates use of standardized nursing languages in the care of new mothers in community settings. DATA SOURCES. The author collected data from clinical practice as an instructor in a baccalaureate nursing program and from the research literature. DATA SYNTHESIS. The appropriate nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions were identified in partnership with the new mother. CONCLUSIONS. This case shows that NANDA International (NANDA‐I), the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC), and the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC) are useful to direct nursing care in community settings. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING. When teaching nursing students in a baccalaureate program, nurse faculty can use NANDA‐I, NOC, and NIC classifications to guide the growing practice of nursing students in community settings.     

Population‐Focused Nursing: Advocacy for Vulnerable Populations in an RN‐BSN Program

The purpose of this article is to describe an innovative learning activity for online RN‐BSN students designed to foster advocacy for vulnerable populations. The Vulnerable Population Advocacy Assignment, included as a component of the online Population‐Focused Nursing class, provides students with the opportunity to identify and develop an awareness of issues impacting vulnerable populations and to advocate for policy changes that will influence the health of individuals, families, and populations. RN‐BSN students build on previous knowledge and skills in professional communication and advocacy as they develop a policy statement designed to address health disparities impacting local, national, and global populations.     

Person‐centred care in the Indonesian health‐care system

Person‐centred care (PCC) is defined as the health‐care providers selecting and delivering interventions or treatments that are respectful of and responsive to the characteristics, needs, preferences and values of the individual person. This model of care puts the person at the centre of care delivery. The World Health Organization suggests that PCC is one of the essential dimensions of health care and as such is an important indicator of health‐care quality. However, how PCC is implemented differs between countries in response to local cultures, resources and consumer expectations of health care. This article discusses person‐centred care in the Indonesian health‐care system.
