Many children who undergo heart transplantation will survive into adulthood. We sought to examine the QOL and capacity for achievement in long‐term adult survivors of pediatric heart transplantation. Adults >18 yr of age who received transplants as children (≤18 yr old) and had survived for at least 10 yr post‐transplant completed two self‐report questionnaires: (i) Ferrans & Powers QLI, in which life satisfaction is reported as an overall score and in four subscale domains and is then indexed from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 1 (very satisfied); and (ii) a “Metrics of Life Achievement” questionnaire regarding income, education, relationships, housing status, and access to health care. A total of 20 subjects completed the survey. The overall mean QLI score was 0.77 ± 0.16. Subjects were most satisfied in the family domain (0.84 ± 0.21) and least satisfied in the psychological/spiritual domain (0.7 ± 0.28). Satisfaction in the domains of health/functioning and socioeconomic were intermediate at 0.78 and 0.76, respectively. Most respondents had graduated from high school, reported a median annual income >$50 000/yr, and lived independently. Adult survivors of pediatric heart transplant report a good QOL and demonstrate the ability to obtain an education, work, and live independently.  相似文献

Alemtuzumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting CD52 receptors on B and T lymphocytes and is an effective induction agent in pediatric renal transplantation. We report a seven‐yr experience using alemtuzumab induction and steroid‐free protocol in the pediatric population as safe and effective. Twenty‐one pediatric deceased donor renal transplants were performed at a single academic institution. All received induction with single‐dose alemtuzumab and were maintained on a steroid‐free protocol using TAC and MMF immunosuppression. There were 15 males and six females in the study whose ages ranged from one to 19 yr. The average follow‐up was 32 months (range from 12 to 78.2 months and median 33.7 ± 23.7 months). All patients had immediate graft function. Graft survival was 95%, and patient survival was 100%. Mean 12 and 36 months eGFR were 63.33 ± 21.01 and 59.90 ± 15.27 mL/min/1.73m2, respectively. Three patients developed acute T‐cell‐mediated rejection due to non‐adherence while no recipients developed cytomegalovirus infection, PTLD, or polyoma BK viral nephropathy. Steroid avoidance with single‐dose alemtuzumab induction provides adequate and safe immunosuppression in pediatric deceased donor renal transplant recipients receiving TAC and low‐dose MMF maintenance therapy.  相似文献

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) remains the only curative treatment in patients with β‐thalassemia major. A matched sibling or a related donor is usually found in only 25%‐30% of the patients. There are limited data on matched unrelated donor (MUD) transplants from India. We reviewed HSCT outcome in 56 children with TM who underwent 57 transplants at our center. Related donor (RD) (n=43) and MUD (n=14) transplants were performed with TreoFluT‐based conditioning regimen in majority (95%) of patients. Peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) were the preferred (85%) source of stem cells. The overall survival (OS) at 1 year in RD and MUD groups was 87.6±5.2% and 85.7±9.4% at a median follow‐up of 25 (1‐92) months and 22.5 (1‐50) months, respectively (P=.757). The thalassemia‐free survival (TFS) at 1 year was 87.6±5.2% and 77.1±11.7% with a median follow‐up of 24 (1‐92) and 16.5 (1‐50) months, respectively (P=.487). Although acute (14% vs 64%) and chronic graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) (13.9% vs 42.9%), infectious (39.5% vs 71.4%), and non‐infectious (37.2% vs 78.5%) complications are higher in MUD transplant group, the present data show a comparable OS and TFS among RD and MUD group with treosulfan‐based regimen using PBSC grafts.  相似文献

ALA induction in transplantation has been shown to reduce the need for maintenance immunosuppression. We report the outcome of 25 pediatric renal transplants between 2007 and 2010 using ALA induction followed by tacrolimus maintenance monotherapy. Patient ages were 1–19 yr (mean 14 ± 4.1 yr). Time of follow‐up was 7–51 months (mean 26 ± 13 months). Tacrolimus monotherapy was maintained in 48% of patients, and glucocorticoids were avoided in 80% of recipients. Mean plasma creatinine and GFR at one yr post‐transplant were 0.88 ± 0.3 mg/dL and 104.4 ± 25 mL/min/1.73m2, respectively. One, two, and three‐yr actuarial patient and graft survival rates were 100%. The incidence of early AR (<12 months after transplantation) was 12%, while the incidence of late AR (after 12 months) was 16%. Forty‐four percent of the recipients recovered normal, baseline renal function after an episode of AR, and 44% had persistent renal dysfunction (plasma creatinine 1.0–1.8 mg/dL). One graft was lost four yr after transplantation due to medication non‐compliance. Four (16%) patients developed BK or CMV infection. In our experience, ALA induction with tacrolimus monotherapy resulted in excellent short‐ and mid‐term patient and graft survival in low‐immunologic risk pediatric renal transplant recipients.  相似文献

We report a retrospective analysis of 53 haematopoietic stem cell transplants for inherited metabolic disorders performed at ANZCHOG transplant centres between 1992 and 2008. Indications for transplant included Hurler syndrome, ALD, and MLD. The majority of transplants utilized unrelated donor stem cells (66%) with 65% of those being unrelated cord blood. Conditioning therapy was largely myeloablative, with Bu plus another cytotoxic agent used in 89% of recipients. Primary graft failure was rare, occurring in three patients, all of whom remain long‐term survivors following the second transplant. The CI of grade II‐IV and grade III‐IV acute GVHD at day +100 was 39% and 14%, respectively. Chronic GVHD occurred in 17% of recipients. TRM was 12% at day +100 and 19% at one yr post‐transplant. OS at five yr was 78% for the cohort, 73% for patients with ALD and 83% for patients with Hurler syndrome. There was no statistically significant difference in overall survival between unrelated marrow and unrelated cord blood donor groups. The development of interstitial pneumonitis was an independent variable shown to significantly impact on TRM and OS. In summary, we report a large cohort of patients with inherited metabolic disorders with excellent survival post‐allogeneic transplant.  相似文献

HSCT is the only proven treatment option for CML, a rare disease in children. Recently, there are promising reports on the advantageous effect of imatinib mesylate for pediatric patients with CML. We conducted a retrospective study on 33 pediatric patients suffering from CML. Fourteen underwent HSCT and the rest were treated with imatinib. With a median follow‐up of 24 months, the two‐yr OS in the HSCT group and the imatinib group was 84% and 87%, respectively (p = 0.714). The probabilities of two‐yr DFS were 59% in the HSCT group and 82% in the imatinib group, either (p = 0.880). Relapse occurred in 5 (35.7%) patients of the HSCT group, and 8 (42.1%) patients showed relapse in the imatinib group. Among nine patients who died, five were in the HSCT group and the rest were in the imatinib group. The probability of relapse in the patients of the imatinib group followed up for several consecutive years may be higher than observed in the HSCT group, so we cannot easily conclude which way is more reliable.  相似文献

Sirolimus is used in heart transplant patients with CAV and CNI‐induced nephropathy. However, little is known regarding the tolerability, rejection rate, and effect on renal function when used empirically in children. We describe our experience with the empiric use of a sirolimus‐based immunosuppressive regimen in pediatric heart transplantation recipients. We reviewed records of patients in whom conversion was attempted to a CNI‐free sirolimus‐based regimen. Rejection episodes and measures of renal function were recorded. We attempted to convert 20 patients, of which 16 were successful. In total, six of 20 patients (30%) experienced adverse effects. Of the 16 converted, four patients converted to sirolimus due to CNI‐induced disease (three nephropathy, one CAV), while 12 patients (mean age 5.5 yr, range 0.1–21 yr; 33% female; 33% with a history of congenital heart disease) were empirically switched to sirolimus at a mean of 2.3 yr after transplant. Follow‐up was available for a mean of 2.5 yr after conversion (range 0.5–8.3 yr). The rate of rejection while taking CNIs was 0.18 rejection episodes per patient‐year (total of five episodes), compared with 0.03 rejection episodes per patient‐year (total of one episode) while on sirolimus. Renal function, in terms of GFR, significantly improved after sirolimus conversion at latest follow‐up (from 86 ± 37 mL/min to 130 ± 49 mL/min, p = 0.02). Here, we demonstrate the potential benefit of empiric use of sirolimus in pediatric heart transplant patients in a CNI‐free regimen. Larger and longer studies are needed to further clarify risks of rejection and adverse effect profiles.  相似文献

The three yr results of a multicenter trial in de novo pediatric KT treated with a proliferative signal inhibitor and low dose CNI are presented. Thirty‐seven children (9.1 ± 5 yr old) received basiliximab, cyclosporine A (CyA C2:1400 ng/mL), (MMF C0:1.5–3 μg/mL), and prednisone. Three wk later everolimus was started (C0:5–10 ng/mL), CyA was reduced (C2:600 ng/mL after 90 days 300 ng/mL), and MMF discontinued. During the three‐yr period patient and graft survivals were 96%. One patient died for causes unrelated to the immunosuppression. Cumulative acute rejection rate including protocol and indication biopsies was 21.9%. None of the patients had signs of chronic humoral rejection. Incidence of dnDSA was 5%, 11%, and 22% at one, two, and three yr post‐transplant, respectively. Mean glomerular filtration rate measured at one yr and three yr post‐transplant was 105.5 ± 31 and 110.7 ± 27 mL/min/1.73 m2, respectively. A growth velocity of 7.7 ± 6.7 cm/yr was achieved with positive catch‐up growth. No malignancy or post‐transplant lymphoproliferative diseases were diagnosed. In conclusion, the treatment based on basiliximab induction, everolimus, low‐dose cyclosporine, and low‐dose prednisone leads to good long‐term efficacy in de novo pediatric KT recipients.  相似文献

We compared long‐term outcomes of LDKT in pediatric recipients following either laparoscopic (LDN) or ODN. In our retrospective single‐center study, we compared 38 pediatric LDKT recipients of a laparoscopically procured kidney with a historic ODN group comprising 17 pediatric recipients. In our center, the first pure laparoscopic non‐hand‐assisted LDN for a pediatric LDKT recipient was performed in June 2001. Demographic data of donors and recipients were comparable between groups. Mean follow‐up was 64 months in the LDN group and 137 months in the ODN group. Patient survival was comparable between groups. Graft survival at one and five yr was 97% (LDN) vs. 94% (ODN) and 91% (LDN) vs. 88% (ODN; p = n.s.), respectively. Serum creatinine at one and five yr was 1.16 ± 0.47 mg/dL (LDN) vs. 1.02 ± 0.38 mg/dL (ODN) and 1.38 ± 0.5 mg/dL (LDN) vs. 1.20 ± 0.41 mg/dL (ODN), respectively. The type and frequency of surgical complications did not differ between groups. DGF and acute rejection rates were similar between groups. In the ODN group, a higher proportion of right donor kidneys was used. In the ODN group, all kidneys had singular arteries, whereas in the LDN group five kidneys had multiple arteries. Arterial multiplicity was associated with a higher incidence of DGF. In our experience, LDN does not compromise long‐term graft outcomes in pediatric LDKT recipients. Arterial multiplicity of the donor kidney may be a risk factor for impaired early graft function in the pediatric population.  相似文献

a‐GvHD may complicate allogeneic HSCT. In this retrospective single‐center study, we evaluated incidence and risk factors of a‐GvHD in 197 consecutive allogeneic pediatric HSCTs applying Glucksberg and NIH a‐GvHD classifications. Among 179 eligible transplants, the cumulative incidence of grade 0–I a‐GvHD was 48% and grade II–IV was 52%. None of the considered variables significantly influenced the incidence of grade II–IV a‐GvHD. Malignancy and myeloablation were associated with an increased risk of classic a‐GvHD (p < 0.01). Seventy‐two percentage of children are alive, with a significant difference in OS and TRM between grade 0 and I vs. grade II and IV a‐GvHD; this observation was reproduced in the non‐malignant setting, while only a disparity in TRM was evidenced in children with malignancy. In our experience, the incidence of a‐GvHD was similar, regardless of donor type. Myeloablation and malignant disease represented the only risk factors for classic a‐GvHD. Our results highlight the need for a better prevention of this complication in the non‐malignant setting.  相似文献

Abstract: BU is a commonly used conditioning agent in BMT. However, it is a narrow therapeutic index drug which shows a strong correlation between AUC and both efficacy and toxicity. Studies in pediatric patients have suggested that children less than four yr of age have a greater clearance and thus lower AUC at standard adult doses. The goal of this retrospective analysis was to evaluate any age‐related pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic differences in pediatric patients who received BU as a conditioning agent. From 2003 to 2006, 21/77 pediatric patients who received BMT were reviewed. There were 15 males and six females with a mean age of six yr old. Diagnoses of leukemia (n = 11), Hodgkin’s lymphoma (n = 3), myelodysplastic syndrome (n = 2), and other (n = 5) were included. Sixteen patients received BU + cyclophosphamide while five patients received BU + another agent. There were 20 allogeneic and one autologous transplants among which 16 were human leukocyte antigen matched and five were mismatched. Average BU clearance in patients younger than four yr old (n = 8) was 4.1 ± 1.0 mL/min/kg vs. 3.1 ± 0.7 mL/min/kg in patients older than four yr old (n = 13) (p = 0.02). The corresponding averages for AUC were 998 ± 226 μm ·min vs. 1155 ± 183 μm ·min (p = 0.12). No patients younger than four yr old developed VOD while five of the older patients did (p = 0.044). There were no significant differences in terms of engraftment and acute GvHD. There were significant age‐related pharmacokinetic differences in pediatric patients less than four yr of age receiving BU for conditioning prior to BMT. There was a decrease in drug toxicity seen in these patients.  相似文献

OS of tacrolimus prepared from tacrolimus powder is not licensed for children. A licensed GF for OS allows flexibility for body weight‐based dose adjustments. This study aimed at exploring the efficacy of conversion from OS to the GF of tacrolimus in stable pediatric renal transplant recipients. Records of 25 pediatric renal transplant recipients aged under 18 years who were switched from an unlicensed tacrolimus OS to GF were reviewed. At day 0, 1 week, and 4‐8 weeks post‐conversion, there were no differences regarding daily tacrolimus dose (3.4 ± 3 vs 3.5 ± 2.9 vs 3.5 ± 2.9 mg/day), trough tacrolimus levels (4.5 ± 2.7 vs 4.2 ± 2.7 vs 4.4 ± 3.1 ng/mL), dose‐normalized trough tacrolimus levels (1.7 ± 1.1 vs 1.5 ± 1.0 vs 1.7 ± 1.3 ng/mL/mg), PCr (65.6 ± 29.4 vs 67.9 ± 30.4 vs 69.8 ± 27.9 μmol/L), and eGFR (73 ± 24.9 vs 68.7 ± 20.2 vs 65.5 ± 18.2 mL/min/1.73 m2) (> .05). GF dose adjustment was required in 52% of participants. Eighty‐eight percent of patients had to return for repeat tacrolimus levels following dose modifications, generating 33 extra visits (≥2 extra visits for 1/3 of subjects). No rejection episodes occurred in the year after conversion. In conclusion, conversion from tacrolimus OS to GF in stable pediatric renal transplant recipients is safe and efficacious. However, close therapeutic drug monitoring in the immediate post‐conversion period is necessary.  相似文献

1 Background

Malignant rhabdoid tumor of the kidney (MRTK) is the most aggressive childhood renal tumor with overall survival (OS) rates ranging from 22% to 42%. Whether high‐dose chemotherapy with autologous stem‐cell transplantation (HDSCT) in an intensive first‐line treatment offers additional benefit is an ongoing discussion.

2 Methods

A retrospective analysis of all 58 patients with MRTK from Austria, Switzerland, and Germany treated in the framework of consecutive, prospective renal/rhabdoid tumor studies SIOP9/GPO, SIOP93‐01/GPOH (where SIOP is International Society of Pediatric Oncology and GPOH is German Society of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology), SIOP2001/GPOH, and European Rhabdoid Tumor Registry from 1991 to 2014.

3 Results

Median age at diagnosis was 11 months. Fifty percent of patients had metastases or multifocal disease at diagnosis (Stage IV). Local stage distribution was as follows: not done/I/II/III—1/6/11/40. Fifteen (26%) patients underwent upfront surgery. Thirty‐seven (64%) patients achieved a complete remission, 17 (29%) relapsed, 34 (59%) died of disease progression, and two (3%) died of treatment‐related complication. Mean time to the first event was 3.5 months. Two‐year EFS/OS (where EFS is event‐free survival) for the whole group was 37 ± 6%/38 ± 6%. Metastases/multifocal disease, younger age, and local stage III were associated with significantly inferior survival. Eleven (19%) patients underwent HDSCT (carboplatin + thiotepa, n = 6; carboplatin + etoposide + melphalan, n = 4; others, n = 1); 2‐year OS in this group was 60 ± 15% compared to 34 ± 8% in the non‐HDSCT group (P = 0.064). However, the time needed from radiologic to histologic diagnosis, stem‐cell harvest, and HDSCT must also be taken into account to avoid selection bias by excluding the highest risk group with early progression (<90 days). Thus, 2‐year EFS only for patients without progression until day 90 was 60 ± 16% consolidated by HDSCT compared to 62 ± 11% without (P = 0.8).

4 Conclusion

Our retrospective analysis suggests comparable outcomes for patients with and without HDSCT, if adjusted for early disease progression.  相似文献

Lymphocele is a well‐known postoperative complication after kidney transplantation. The aim of this study was to analyze time trend incidence, risk factors, and outcome of post‐transplant lymphocele in a large pediatric cohort. This is a retrospective single institution review of 241 pediatric kidney transplants performed from 2000 to 2013. Etiology of end‐stage renal disease, recipient age and gender, transplant year, BMI percentile for age, type of dialysis, living/non‐living related donor, acute rejection, and multiple transplantations were analyzed in association with lymphocele formation. Fourteen of 241 (5.81%) children developed a postoperative lymphocele. There has been a reduction in the incidence of lymphocele after 2006 (3.22% vs. 8.55%, p < 0.05). Significant risk factors for lymphocele were older age (≥11 yr), transplant before 2006, male gender, BMI percentile for age ≥95%, and multiple transplantations (p < 0.05). The one‐yr graft survival was significantly reduced in the group with lymphocele compared with control (81.2% vs. 92.51%, p < 0.04). This is the first pediatric report showing the following risk factors associated with post‐transplant lymphocele: age ≥11 yr, male gender, BMI for age ≥95%, and multiple transplantations. A lymphocele can contribute to graft loss in the first‐year post‐transplant.  相似文献

RTx is currently the best treatment for children with ESRD. This study retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of growth after RTx using the pediatric‐to‐pediatric allocation strategy and some factors that may affect it. From March 2012 to August 2016, 8 en bloc and 38 single pediatric RTxs were performed at our center using organs from small pediatric deceased donors (weight < 15 kg). Growth before and after RTx was analyzed according to the height‐for‐age z‐score at RTx, the 3‐year follow‐up, and adulthood and compared between the procedures. The chi‐square test and multiple linear regression analysis were used for statistical analyses. Overall, 79.2% of children were diagnosed with chronic nephritis before RTx; 14.6% of cases were due to congenital urinary tract malformation, and 6.3% of cases were due to unknown causes. All grafts and patients survived postoperatively. The mean estimated GFRs were 92.7 ± 28.6 mL/min/1.73 m2, 100.9 ± 32.3 mL/min/1.73 m2, and 110.1 ± 34.8 mL/min/1.73 m2 at 1, 2, and 3 years’ postoperatively, respectively. The children's postoperative growth and development, particularly during the first year postoperatively, improved but were negatively correlated with age and the height‐for‐age z‐score before RTx. The growth of children after RTx was moderate and accelerated during prepubescence. The rate of post‐RTx growth during the first year postoperatively was unrelated to the recipient's sex or duration of dialysis (P > 0.05) but was negatively correlated with age at RTx (r = ?0.349, P = 0.043). Future studies on the long‐term outcomes are still needed.  相似文献

The natural history and survival of children with fibrocystic liver–kidney disease undergoing solid organ transplantation have infrequently been described. We report outcomes in a cohort of US children with fibrocystic liver–kidney disease receiving solid organ transplants over 20 yr. Retrospective cohort study of pediatric transplant recipients with diagnoses of fibrocystic liver–kidney disease from 1/1990 to 3/2010, using data from the SRTR. Subjects were categorized by the first transplanted organ: LT, KT, or SLK. Primary outcomes were death, re‐transplant, transplant of the alternate organ, or initiation of dialysis. Seven hundred and sixteen subjects were transplanted in this period. Median age at first transplant was 9.7 yr. Of the LT, 14 (19%) required a second liver transplant at median of 0.2 yr, and five (7%) required kidney transplant or dialysis at a median of 9.0 yr. Of the KT, 188 (31%) required a second kidney transplant or dialysis at a median of 5.9 yr. Twenty‐nine (5%) subsequently received liver transplant at a median of 6.0 yr. Among patients in this registry, far more children underwent kidney than liver transplants. The risk of subsequently needing transplantation of an alternate organ was low.  相似文献

The ureteroneocystostomy in kidney transplantation can be performed with a variety of techniques. Over a 20‐yr period, we utilized a technique of nipple‐valve ureteroneocystostomy for the pediatric kidney transplants performed at our institution. The distal ureter is everted upon itself and anchored in place with four interrupted sutures to create a nipple valve, which is then inserted into the bladder and sewn mucosa‐to‐mucosa with the same sutures. The muscularis layer is closed around the ureter without tunneling and without routine ureteral stenting. After 109 transplants, patient survival was 97.2, 97.2, and 86.9% at one, five, and 10 yr, respectively. Graft survival was 91.7, 71.7, and 53.9% at one, five, and 10 yr, respectively. The most common cause of graft loss was acute or chronic rejection, seen in 75% of those experiencing graft loss. Two patients (1.8%) developed pyelonephritis in the transplanted kidney. Nipple‐valve ureteroneocystostomy in pediatric kidney transplantation is a safe and simple method for performing the ureterovesical anastomosis with a low rate of pyelonephritis after transplantation.  相似文献

The MetS and cardiovascular disease are leading causes of late morbidity in adult liver transplantation recipients; however, limited data are available in pediatric liver transplantation. A single‐center retrospective review was undertaken for patients who had a liver transplantation before 18 yr of age and were >5 yr post‐transplantation, to study the prevalence of MetS, its components, and cardiac disorders. Fifty‐eight patients were included in the study with a mean age at transplantation of 6.3 ± 6.1 yr and mean follow‐up of 14.1 ± 6.0 yr. Of the study group, 41.4% were overweight or obese, with ongoing prednisone use and increased duration of follow‐up being significant risk factors. Fifty‐three patients had sufficient data for determining MetS, which was present in 17% of the patients. Although the prevalence of MetS is low in pediatric liver transplant recipients, it is associated with CKD and prednisone therapy (p < 0.05). Echocardiography data were available for 23 patients, of whom 43.4% had LVH and 13% had evidence of PH. The spectrum of cardiac disorders in this population is much wider than in adults.  相似文献

Recipient lymphocytes are crucial for direct and indirect pathways of allorecognition. We proposed that the administration of alemtuzumab several weeks pretransplantation could eradicate peripheral lymphatic cells and promote donor‐specific acceptance. This was a single‐center, retrospective review of 101 consecutive living donor kidney transplantations in pediatric patients (age 7 months—18 years), performed between September 2006 and April 2010. IS protocol included two 30 mg doses of alemtuzumab: The first was given 12‐29 days prior to transplantation, and the second at the time of transplantation. Maintenance IS was based on combination of low‐dose CNI and mycophenolate, with steroids tapered over the first 5 days post‐transplantation. Patients were followed for 7.8±1.3 years, and protocol biopsies were taken 1 month, 1, 3, and 5 years post‐transplant. The Kaplan‐Meier 8‐year patient and graft survival rates in the cyclosporine‐treated patients were 82.0±7.3% and 71.6±7.3, and in the tacrolimus‐treated patients were 97.2±5.4 and 83.8±6.0%. Biopsy‐proven acute rejection developed in 35% of cyclosporine‐treated patients and in 8% of tacrolimus‐treated patients. Alemtuzumab pretreatment prior to LRD kidney transplantation, followed by maintenance immunosuppression with tacrolimus and MMF, is associated with reasonable long‐term results in pediatric patients.  相似文献

Thirty‐four IT survivors from 1999 to 2012 were asked to complete age‐specific HRQOL non‐disease‐specific questionnaires: TAPQOL (0–4 yr), KINDL‐R (5–7 yr; 8–12 yr; 13–17 yr), and SF‐36v2 (>18 yr), all validated with Spanish population. Primary caregiver completed a SF‐36 questionnaire and CBI. Thirty‐one participants were included. Median age was 10.2 yr (1–29) and time after transplant 4.4 yr (0–13). Overall patient scores were 78.2 ± 10.6 (n = 8), 83.3 ± 9.7 (n = 6), 72.2 ± 9.21 (n = 6), 80.5 ± 12.4 (n = 7), and 82.2 ± 12.4 (n = 4) for each age group. Highest scores were obtained for vitality (group I), self‐esteem (group IV), and physical and social functioning and emotions (group V). Lowest scores were obtained in appetite and behavior (I), family and school (III), and chronic disease perception (III, IV). No significant differences were found between caregivers and their children. CBI showed stress in 52%. SF‐36 for caregivers was lower than general population. No significant differences were found depending on relevant clinical and sociodemographic data. HRQOL was acceptable and improved with age and time since transplantation. Parents had a slighter own QOL and worse perception of health than their children. When successful, intestinal transplantation allows a normal life in most patients and can be offered as an attractive option.  相似文献
