In this study, Al1050 sheets were fabricated in five passes using the accumulative roll bonding (ARB) technique. For a more accurate and complete investigation, different tests were used, including a uniaxial tensile test. The results show that elongation increases about 50% for the annealed sample, which is 2.5 times that of the fifth pass (20%). A five-fold increase can be seen in tensile strength, which was 50 MPa in the annealed sample and reached 250 MPa at the end of the fifth pass. The annealed sample’s yield stress was 40 MPa, 4.5 times less than 180 MPa after five passes of ARB. Then, to evaluate sample hardness, the Vickers microhardness test was conducted in the samples’ depth direction, which recorded 39 HV for the annealed piece and 68 HV after the last ARB pass. These results show that the hardness increases by 1.8 times after five passes of ARB. In the next step, by conducting fractography tests after the sample fractures during the tensile test, the fracture’s mechanism and type were identified and explained. Finally, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was employed to produce pole figures of sample texture, and the anisotropy phenomena of the annealed sample and ARBed samples were wholly examined. In this study, with the help of pole figures, the anisotropic behavior after ARB was investigated and analyzed. In each step of the process, observing the samples’ texture states and the anisotropy magnificent was possible. According to the results, normal anisotropy of 0.6 in the annealed sample and 1.8 achieved after the fifth pass of ARB indicates that ARB leads to an increase in anisotropy.  相似文献

In this paper, a corrugated Mg/Al clad plate was successfully manufactured by an upper corrugated roller and a lower flat roller at 400 °C rolling temperature and 35% reduction ratio. Interface bonding performance of the corrugated Mg/Al clad plate was studied by tensile-shear test. The finite element method was used to simulate the corrugated rolling process. Experiment results revealed that the Mg/Al clad plate fabricated by corrugated roller had a tight bonding interface, no crack, and no intermetallic compounds. The transverse tensile-shear strength at the trough position reached 31.22 MPa, and the tensile-shear strength at the peak position was 17.61 MPa. It can be found that the stress and strain of interface metal at the trough position were the largest through numerical simulation results. Two cross-shear zones can be formed in the rolling deformation zone of the corrugated Mg/Al clad plate, which can accelerate the metal plastic flow and promote interface close bonding.  相似文献

As the applications of heterogeneous materials expand, aluminum laminates of similar materials have attracted much attention due to their greater bonding strength and easier recycling. In this work, an alloy design strategy was developed based on accumulative roll bonding (ARB) to produce laminates from similar materials. Twin roll casting (TRC) sheets of the same composition but different cooling rates were used as the starting materials, and they were roll bonded up to three cycles at varying temperatures. EBSD showed that the two TRC sheets deformed in distinct ways during ARB processes at 300 °C. Major recrystallizations were significant after the first cycle on the thin sheet and after the third cycle on the thick sheet. The sheets were subject to subsequent aging for better mechanical properties. TEM observations showed that the size and distribution of nano-precipitations were different between the two sheet sides. These nano-precipitations were found to significantly promote precipitation strengthening, and such a promotive effect was referred to as hetero-deformation induced (HDI) strengthening. Our work provides a new promising method to prepare laminated heterogeneous materials with similar alloy TRC sheets.  相似文献

The features of composite materials such as production flexibility, lightness, and excellent strength put them in the class of materials that attract attention in various critical areas, i.e., aerospace, defense, automotive, and shipbuilding. However, the machining of composite materials displays challenges due to the difficulty in obtaining structural integrity. In this study, Cu/Mo-SiCP composite materials were produced by powder metallurgy with varied reinforcement ratios and then their machinability was investigated. In machinability experiments, the process parameters were selected as cutting speed (vC), feed rate (f), depth of cut (aP), and reinforcement ratio (RR). Two levels of these parameters were taken as per the Taguchi’s L8 orthogonal array, and response surface methodology (RSM) is employed for parametric optimization. As a result, the outcomes demonstrated that RR = 5%, f = 0.25 mm/rev, aP = 0.25 mm, vC = 200 m/min for surface roughness, RR = 0%, f = 0.25 mm/rev and aP = 0.25 mm and vC = 200 m/min for flank wear and RR = 0%, f = 0.25 mm/rev, aP = 0.25 mm, vC = 150 m/min for cutting temperature for cutting temperature and flank wear should be selected for the desired results. In addition, ANOVA results indicate that reinforcement ratio is the dominant factor on all response parameters. Microscope images showed that the prominent failure modes on the cutting tool are flank wear, built up edge, and crater wear depending on reinforcement ratio.  相似文献

The influence of tin foil and Ni coatings on microstructures, mechanical properties, and the interfacial reaction mechanism was investigated during laser welding/brazing of Al/Cu lap joints. In the presence of a Zn-based filler, tin foil as well as Ni coating strengthened the Al/Cu joints. The tin foil only slightly influenced the joint strength. It considerably improved the spreading/wetting ability of the weld filler; however, it weakened the bonding between the seam and the Al base metal. The Ni coating considerably strengthened the Al/Cu lap joints; the highest tensile strength was 171 MPa, which was higher by 15.5% than that of a joint without any interlayer. Microstructure analysis revealed that composite layers of Ni3Zn14–(τ2 Zn–Ni–Al ternary phase)–(α-Zn solid solution)–Al3Ni formed at the fusion zone (FZ)/Cu interface. Based on the inferences about the microstructures at the interfaces, thermodynamic results were calculated to analyze the interfacial reaction mechanism. The diffusion of Cu was limited by the Ni coating and the mutual attraction between the Al and Ni atoms. The microstructure comprised Zn, Ni, and Al, and they replaced the brittle Cu–Zn intermetallic compounds, successfully strengthening the bonding of the FZ/Cu interface.  相似文献

Recently, the accumulative roll bonding (ARB) technique has made significant progress in the production of various ultrafine-grained (UFG) metals and alloys. In this work, a UFG copper sheet was produced by ARB and subsequent annealing at 300 °C for 60 min to optimize strength and ductility. It was found that homogeneous lamellar UFG materials with a thickness of 200–300 nm were formed after six ARB passes. The microhardness and tensile strength of as-ARBed Cu increased, while the ductility and strain hardening decreased with the cumulative deformation strain. The as-ARBed specimens fractured in a macroscopically brittle and microscopically ductile way. After annealing, discontinuous recrystallization occurred in the neighboring interface with high strain energy, which was prior to that in the matrix. The recrystallization rate was enhanced by increasing the cumulative strain. UFG Cu ARBed for six passes after annealing manifested a completely recrystallized microstructure with grain sizes approximately ranging from 5 to 10 μm. Annealing treatment reduced the microhardness and tensile strength but improved the ductility and strain hardening of UFG Cu. As-annealed UFG-Cu fractured in a ductile mode with dominant dimples and shear zones. Our work advances the industrial-scale production of UFG Cu by exploring a simple and low-cost fabrication technique.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of experimental tests of the rolling process of Mg/Al bimetallic bars in two systems of classic passes (horizontal oval-circle-horizontal oval-circle variant I) and modified (multi-radial horizontal oval-multi-radial vertical oval-multi-radial horizontal oval-circle-variant II). The feedstock in the form of round bimetallic bars with a diameter of 22 mm and 30% of the outer aluminum layer was made through explosive welding. The bimetallic bars consisted of an AZ31 magnesium core and a 1050A aluminum outer layer. Bars with a diameter of 17 mm were obtained as a result of rolling in four passes. The rolling process in the passes was conducted at two temperatures of 300 and 400 °C. Based on the analysis of the test results, it was found that the use of modified passes and a lower rolling temperature (300 °C) ensures a more homogenous distribution of the plating layer around the circumference of the core and results in an even grain decreasing, which improves the corrosion resistance of bimetallic bars compared to rolling bars in a classic system of passes and at a higher temperature (400 °C).  相似文献

In the present work, the effect of graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) on tribological properties of the aluminum (Al), and Al/alumina (Al2O3) composite are studied. GNPs are multilayer graphene sheets which were used as a solid lubricant material. Two sets of composites, Al/GNPs and Al/GNPs/Al2O3 with varying amounts of reinforcements, were synthesized by powder metallurgy that involves cold compaction followed by hot compaction. The hardness of the composites increased with the addition of GNPs and Al2O3. The Al/GNPs composite with 1 wt.% of GNPs (Al/1GNPs) showed a 20% increase in hardness whereas Al/GNPs/ Al2O3 composite with 1 wt.% GNPs and 2 wt.% Al2O3 (Al/1GNPs/2Al2O3) showed 27% increases in hardness compared to the pure Al. The coefficient of friction measured at 20 N was observed to be 22% and 53% lesser for Al/1GNPs and Al/1GNPs/2Al2O3, respectively, compared to corresponding alloys without graphene Al. The X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed the presence of GNPs at the worn surface after the tribology tests. The wear rate was also reduced significantly. In comparison with pure Al, the Al/1GNPs and Al/1GNPs/2Al2O3 composites resulted in 5- and 20-times lesser wear rate, respectively. The addition of Al2O3 caused reduction in wear rate due to higher hardness and load carrying ability, whereas composites with more than 1 wt.% GNPs showed higher wear rate due to lower hardness and higher porosity. The Al/1GNPs/2Al2O3 composite exhibited the least coefficient of friction (0.2–0.25) and wear rate (1 × 10−6–4 × 10−6 mm3/N.m) compared to other GNPs and Al2O3 reinforced Al composites. The worn surfaces were further analyzed to understand the wear mechanism by Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and x-ray diffraction to detect the Al4C3 phase formation, chemical bonding, and defect formation in graphene.  相似文献

Compared with other materials, high-volume fraction aluminum-based silicon carbide composites (hereinafter referred to as SiCp/Al) have many advantages, including high strength, small change in the expansion coefficient due to temperature, high wear resistance, high corrosion resistance, high fatigue resistance, low density, good dimensional stability, and thermal conductivity. SiCp/Al composites have been widely used in aerospace, ordnance, transportation service, precision instruments, and in many other fields. In this study, the ABAQUS/explicit large-scale finite element analysis platform was used to simulate the milling process of SiCp/Al composites. By changing the parameters of the tool angle, milling depth, and milling speed, the influence of these parameters on the cutting force, cutting temperature, cutting stress, and cutting chips was studied. Optimization of the parameters was based on the above change rules to obtain the best processing combination of parameters. Then, the causes of surface machining defects, such as deep pits, shallow pits, and bulges, were simulated and discussed. Finally, the best cutting parameters obtained through simulation analysis was the tool rake angle γ0 = 5°, tool clearance angle α0 = 5°, corner radius r = 0.4 mm, milling depth ap = 50 mm, and milling speed vc = 300 m/min. The optimal combination of milling parameters provides a theoretical basis for subsequent cutting.  相似文献

CNT-AlSi10Mg composites fabricated by SLM have drawn a lot attention in structural application due to its excellent strength, elasticity and thermal conductivities. A planetary ball milling method was used to prepare the carbon nanotube (CNT)-AlSi10Mg powders, and the CNT-AlSi10Mg composites were fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM). The density, microstructure and mechanical properties of CNT-AlSi10Mg composites were studied. The density of the test samples increased at first and then decreased with increasing scan speed. When the laser scan speed was 800 mm/s, the test sample exhibited the highest density. The hardness increased by approximately 26%, and the tensile strength increased by approximately 13% compared to those values exhibited by the unreinforced AlSi10Mg. The grains of CNT-AlSi10Mg composite are finer than that in the AlSi10Mg. The CNTs were distributed along the grain boundaries of AlSi10Mg. Some of the CNTs reacted with Al element and transformed into Al4C3 during SLM, while some of the CNTs still maintained their tubular structure. The combination of CNTs and Al4C3 has a significant improvement in mechanical properties of the composites through fine grain strengthening, second phase strengthening, and load transfer strengthening.  相似文献

The cold roll forming process is broadly used to produce a specific shape of cold-roll formed products for their applications in automobiles, aerospace, shipbuilding, and construction sectors. Moreover, a proper selection of strip thickness and forming speed to avoid fracture is most important for manufacturing a quality product. This research aims to investigate the presence of longitudinal bow, the reason behind flange height deviation, spring-back, and identification of thinning location in the cold roll-forming of symmetrical short U-profile sheets. A room temperature tensile test is performed for the commercially available AA5052–H32 Al alloy sheets using Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique, which allows complete displacement and strain data information at each time-step. The material properties are estimated from the digital images using correlation software for tested samples; the plastic strain ratios are also calculated from samples at 0°, 45°, and 90° to the rolling direction. The tested sample’s surface morphology and the elemental analysis are conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) method and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analytical technique combined with element mapping analysis, respectively. The cold roll forming experiments are systematically carried out, and then finite element analysis is utilized to correlate the experiment with the model. The performed cold roll forming numerical model outcome indicates a good agreement with the experimental measurements. Overall, the presented longitudinal strain was observed to influence the geometry profile. The spring-back is also noticed at the profile tail end and is more pronounced at high forming speed with lower strip thickness. Conversely, while the forming speed is varied, the strain and stress variations are observed to be insignificant, and the similar results also are recognized for the thinning behavior.  相似文献

Graphite/Al composites have attracted much attrition due to their excellent thermal properties. However, the improvement of thermal conductivity (TC) is limited by the difficulty in controlling the orientation of graphite and the poor wettability between graphite and aluminum. In this study, a novel process for fabricating the Graphite/Al composites is proposed, which involves fabricating graphite film and aluminum foil into laminate material. Then, taking a rolling method, the fractured and well oriented graphite film can help the composite achieve high TC while maintaining a certain strength. The result reveals that both single and total reduction have a significant influence on the diameter and orientation of the graphite, and by adjusting the process parameters, composites with high TC can be acquired at a relatively low reinforcement volume. This near-net-forming process can directly meet the thickness requirements for electronic packaging and avoids the exposure of graphite to the surface during secondary processing, which is promising to promote the application for high TC Graphite/Al composites in thermal management.  相似文献

A method of forming an Mg/Al intermetallic compound coating enriched with Mg17Al12 and Mg2Al3 was developed by heat treatment of electrodeposition Al coatings on Mg alloy at 350 °C. The composition of the Mg/Al intermetallic compounds could be tuned by changing the thickness of the Zn immersion layer. The morphology and composition of the Mg/Al intermetallic compound coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). Nanomechanical properties were investigated via nano-hardness (nHV) and the elastic modulus (EIT), and the corrosion behavior was studied through hydrogen evolution and potentiodynamic (PD) polarization. The compact and uniform Al coating was electrodeposited on the Zn-immersed AZ91D substrate. After heat treatment, Mg2Al3 and Mg17Al12 phases formed, and as the thickness of the Zn layer increased from 0.2 to 1.8 μm, the ratio of Mg2Al3 and Mg17Al12 varied from 1:1 to 4:1. The nano-hardness increased to 2.4 ± 0.5 GPa and further improved to 3.5 ± 0.1 GPa. The Mg/Al intermetallic compound coating exhibited excellent corrosion resistance and had a prominent effect on the protection of the Mg alloy matrix. The control over the ratio of intermetallic compounds by varying the thickness of the Zn immersion layer can be an effective approach to achieve the optimal comprehensive performance. As the Zn immersion time was 4 min, the obtained intermetallic compounds had relatively excellent comprehensive properties.  相似文献

In this memory effect study, hydrotalcite-type compounds in the lamellar double hydroxide-like (LDH)/zeolite A composite material were analyzed using X-Ray Diffration XRD) in situ experiments. Three samples were analyzed: Al,Mg-LDH, Al,Mg-LDH/ZA composite, and a physical mixture (50/50 wt%) of zeolite A and Al,Mg-LDH. The Al,Mg-LDH sample was treated at 500 °C in an O2 atmosphere and subsequently rehydrated. The Al,Mg-LDH/ZA composites had three treatments: one was performed at 300 °C in a He atmosphere, and two treatments were performed with an O2 atmosphere at 300 and 500 °C. In the physical mixture, two treatments were carried out under O2 flow at 500 °C and under He flow at 300 °C. Both went through the rehydration process. All samples were also analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the LDH phase in the Al,Mg-LDH/ZA compounds has memory effects, and thus, the compound can be calcined and rehydrated. For the LDH in the composite, the best heat treatment system is a temperature of 300 °C in an inert atmosphere.  相似文献

A gradient transition zone was obtained using electron beam deposition from AA4047 wire on AA7075 substrate and characterized for microstructures, tensile strength and corrosion resistance. The microstructure of the transition zone was composed of aluminum alloy grains, Al/Si eutectics and Fe-rich and Si-rich particles. Such a microstructure provided strength comparable to that of AA7075-T42 substrate but more intense corrosion due to the higher amount of anodic Mg2Si particles. The as-deposited AA4047 zone formed above the transition zone was composed of aluminum alloy dendrites and interdendritic Al/Si eutectics with low mechanical strength and high corrosion potential.  相似文献

The paper presents the microstructure and phase composition of the interface zone formed in the explosive welding process between technically pure aluminum and nickel. Low and high detonation velocities of 2000 and 2800 m/s were applied to expose the differences of the welded zone directly after the joining as well as subsequent long-term annealing. The large amount of the melted areas was observed composed of a variety of Al-Ni type intermetallics; however, the morphology varied from nearly flat to wavy with increasing detonation velocity. The applied heat treatment at 500 °C has resulted in the formation of Al3Ni and Al3Ni2 layers, which in the first stages of growth preserved the initial interface morphology. Due to the large differences in Al and Ni diffusivities, the porosity formation occurred for both types of clads. Faster consumption of Al3Ni phase at the expense of the growing Al3Ni2 phase, characterized by strong crystallographic texture, has been observed only for the weld obtained at low detonation velocity. As a result of the extended annealing time, the disintegration of the bond occurred due to crack propagation located at the A1050/Al3Ni2 interface.  相似文献

This paper presents the dry etching characteristics of indium tin oxide (ITO)/Ag/ITO multilayered thin film, used as a pixel electrode in a high-resolution active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) device. Dry etching was performed using a combination of H2 and HCl gases in a reactive ion etching system with a remote electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma source, in order to achieve high electron temperature. The effect of the gas ratio (H2/HCl) was closely observed, in order to achieve an optimal etch profile and an effective etch process, while other parameters—such as the radio frequency (RF) power, ECR power, chamber pressure, and temperature—were fixed. The optimized process, with an appropriate gas ratio, constitutes a one-step serial dry etch solution for ITO and Ag multilayered thin films.  相似文献

Al–Cu composites have attracted significant interest recently owing to their lightweight nature and remarkable thermal properties. Understanding the interdiffusion mechanism at the numerous Al/Cu interfaces is crucial to obtain Al–Cu composites with high thermal conductivities. The present study systematically investigates the interdiffusion mechanism at Al/Cu interfaces in relation to the process temperature. Al-50vol.%Cu composite powder, where Cu particles were encapsulated in a matrix of irregular Al particles, was prepared and then sintered at various temperatures from 340 to 500 °C. Intermetallic compounds (ICs) such as CuAl2 and Cu9Al4 were formed at the Al/Cu interfaces during sintering. Microstructural analysis showed that the thickness of the interdiffusion layer, which comprised the CuAl2 and Cu9Al4 ICs, drastically increased above 400 °C. The Vickers hardness of the Al-50vol.%Cu composite sintered at 380 °C was 79 HV, which was 1.5 times that of the value estimated by the rule of mixtures. A high thermal conductivity of 150 W∙m−1∙K−1 was simultaneously obtained. This result suggests that the Al-50vol.%Cu composite material with large number of Al/Cu interfaces, as well as good mechanical strength and heat conductance, can be prepared by solid-state sintering at a low temperature.  相似文献

In this study, AZ91 magnesium-alloy-based metal matrix composites (MMCs) reinforced with 10 wt% of Al0.5CoCrFeNi2 high-entropy alloy (HEA) particles and SiC particles were prepared by a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process at 300 °C. The effects of reinforcements on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91-based MMCs were studied. The results showed that AZ91–HEA composite consisted of α-Mg, Mg17Al12 and FCC phases. No interfacial reaction layer was observed between HEA particles and the Mg matrix. After adding HEA into AZ91, the compressive yield strength (C.Y.S) of the AZ91–HEA composite increased by 17% without degradation of failure strain. In addition, the increment in C.Y.S brought by HEA was comparable to that contributed by commonly used SiC reinforcement (15%). A relatively low porosity in the composite and enhanced interfacial bonding between the α-Mg matrix and HEA particles make HEA a potential reinforcement material in MMCs.  相似文献

Multilayer reduced graphene oxide (mrGO) was chemically modified by electroless plating of copper on surface to form mrGO-Cu. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis revealed that nano-Cu particles were uniformly dispersed on the surface of mrGO. The mrGO-Cu powders were further utilized as reinforcements for aluminum (Al) matrix and the mrGO-Cu/Al composite was successfully fabricated through clad rolling of milled powder. The tribological properties of the mrGO-Cu/Al composites were explored. The tribological results show that the mrGO-Cu could reduce the friction coefficient and wear loss of mrGO-Cu/Al composites, since the mrGO-Cu participated in lubricating processes due to the formation of a transfer layer on the contact surface. Furthermore, it is found that the composition of mrGO-Cu could significantly influence the tribological properties of the mrGO-Cu/Al composites. The composites with 4% of mrGO-Cu for composites exhibited the best tribological behavior, which transformed from adhesive wear to abrasive wear, due to the formation of a graphite lubricating film.  相似文献
