LIANG Xiao-chun（梁晓春）--An Outstanding Endocrinologist of Integrative Medicine

LIANG Xiao-chun, director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine （TCM） in Peking Union Medical College Hospital （PUMCH）, has been working there since she graduated from Beijing College of TCM in 1978. She received her Master＇s degree in Medicine from Peking Union Medical College （PUMC） in 1987. She was rapidly promoted to associate-professor in 1993 because of her exceptional academic achievement and again, to professor in 1997.     

Biography of the Eminent Doctors

Zhao Shuyi,chief physician and research fellow at Xi Yuan Hospital,China Academy ofTraditional Chinese Medicine,was born in 1917 in Beijing.She graduated from Nanhai MedicalUniversity in 1942 and has since worked as clinical gynecologist in Henan,Xi'an,Changsha andBeijing before coming to the Department of Gynecology of Xi Yuan Hospital in 1955.Duringher 40 years of gynecological practice,Dr.Zhao has grasped the theories of gynecology and ac-cumulated rich experience in the treatment of functional uterine bleeding,female infertility andthe climacteric syndrome.In 1980,she was engaged in research into computerizing the clinicalexperience of the well-known Chinese physician Qian Boxuan for the benefit of posterity,withgood results which won her commendation from Chinese medical circles.She also participated     

PROMINENT PERSONNEL——LEI Yan （雷燕）：An Expert in Studying Cardiovascular Diseases with Integrated Medicine

Professor LEI Yan, Ph. D., female, was born in October 1960. After being graduated from Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine （ TOM ） in 1983, she worked as a resident physician in the TOM Hospital of Xinyang city, Henan province. She was enrolled in the master＇ s program of internal medicine of integrative traditional Chinese and Western medicine in Fujian College of TOM in 1988, and after finished her study in 1991, she was employed as a chief physician in Fujian Provincial Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases for two years. In 1993 she studied under the indoctrination of Prof. CHEN Ke-ji, majoring in cardiovascular diseases in the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences （CACMS） and got the doctoral degree in July 1996. In 1998, she finished the post-doctorate research on the prevention and treatment of senile dementia in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Since then, she took charge in managerial work as the assistant director of department of cardiovascular diseases of Xiyuan Hospital of CACMS and the director of department of scientific research supervisal in CACMS, meanwhile, as a Prof. of Medi- cine, the tutor of doctoral students on integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine （TCM-WM） of CACMS.     

LING Chang-quan（凌昌全）——An Outstanding Oncologist of Integrative Medicine

Prof.LING Changquan, born in 1957 in Huaining of Anhui Province, is the president of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) of the Second Military Medical University,and vice-president of Shanghai Changhai Hospital,the leader of the National Key Clinical Discipline of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine,an expert on the treatment and prevention of tumors by integrative medicine.He obtained his PhD degree in integrated Chinese and Western medicine at Shanghai University of TCM in 1992.Prof.Ling successively took offices of the member of the ninth,the tenth and the eleventh Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference National Committee. At present,he is the vice-chairman of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine,the vice-chairman of China Association of Chinese Medicine Cancer Branch, and the managing editor-in-chief of the Journal of Chinese Integrative Medicine.     

WANG Xue-mei （王学美）--A Famous Expert on Anti-senility

Prof. WANG Xue- mei was born in Wuqing, Tianjin City on September 10, 1964. She graduated with a bachelors and masters degree from the Tianjin Traditional Chinese Medicine College in 1988 （now the Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine）. She pursued her doctorate in the Beijing Medical University （now the Peking University Health Science Center） from 1988 to 1991, She has been working in the Peking University Institute of Integrated TCM and Western Medicine since her graduation.     

The first of its kind in the world A Practical English-Chinese Library of Traditional Chinese Medicine has been published

The present library,the first of its kind in the world edited chiefly by Dr.Zhang Enqin,directorof the Advanced Studies Department of Shandong College of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),has been published in succession starting from May,1989,and will be completed in June,1990,bythe Publishing House of Shanghai College of TCM.     

CAI Ding-fang（蔡定芳）--An Outstanding Neurologist of Integrative Medicine

Prof.CAI Ding-fang, Ph.D.,was born on Nov.8, 1956 in Shanghai.In 1988, Prof.CAI received the Ph.D. degree from the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.He built an academic foundation of a strong Chinese medicine （CM） ＆ intearative medicine research following Prof. SHEN Zi-yin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and accomplished a training course aiming specifically at the solid and broad basic theory, as well as the deep and systemic expertise.     

Brief Introduction of Dr. Yao Kuiwu

Yao Kuiwu, male, MD, now works in Foreign Guest Department of Xiyuan Hospital, China Science Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Now the main research fields are the prevention and cure of cardiovascular disease and Geriatrics, and the syndrome study in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The major projects are： Natural Science Fund of China, 973 Project, and Innovation Project of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The researches try to using the technology of calculating intelligence, epidemiology, and Design/Measurement/Evaluation （DME） in the study domain of Chinese Medicine syndrome. The objective of study is to discover the correlation of symptoms, physical signs, and the lab indexes, which are macroscopical, not definite, and non-linear, just acquired in the clinical practice. Further more, the researches explore the contribution of these symptoms, physical signs, and the lab indexes to the Chinese Medicine syndrome. In the end, the researches explore the quantitative diagnosis of Chinese Medicine syndrome.     

Department of Vascular Surgery,Renji Hospital,Shanghai Second Medical University
