Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlations between the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and C-peptide (C-P) and type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods From February 2020 to January 2022, 96 patients with type 2 diabetes were diagnosed by coronary angiography in Jinan Second People's Hospital, including 26 cases of simple type 2 diabetes and 70 cases of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Another 32 healthy people were selected as the healthy group. In the simple type 2 diabetes group, there were 12 males and 14 females, aged 32-68 (55.26±7.14) years; in the type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy group, there were 32 males and 38 females, aged 30-67 (53.24±7.14) years; in the healthy group, there were 20 males and 12 females, aged 30-76 (58.25±7.69) years. The patients' clinical data were collected and compared. The levels of HbA1c and C-P were determined. Spearman method was used to analyze the correlations between HbA1c and C-P levels and type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. t test and F test were used for the measurement data and χ2 test for the count data. Results The levels of HbA1c (7.37±0.87) % and (8.52±0.96) %] and C-P (5.63±1.67) μg/L and (7.14±1.84) μg/L] in the type 2 diabetes group and the type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy group were higher than those in the healthy group (7.02±0.68) % and (3.12±1.53) μg/L], with statistically significant differences (both P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the general data such as gender, age, body weight, course of disease, hypertension, smoking, drinking, fasting blood glucose, and heart rate between the two groups of type 2 diabetic patients (all P>0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that C-P and HbA1c levels were positively correlated with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy (r=0.895, 0.870; P=0.010, 0.016). Conclusions The levels of HbA1c and C-P are abnormal in patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The levels of HbA1c and C-P are related to type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which can provide some references for guiding clinical early diagnosis and early prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
